people--specifically Afro-Latinx--have been asking for a while now that Gina Rodriguez be mindful of what she is saying and doing out here in these streets with her anti-Blackness behavior.
*
Gina, (@hereisgina ) my Boricua/Chicago hermana, this is why.

Dear Gina, A brand is everything that you present to the world that leaves them with an impression of who you are and what you stand for. A brand is the music album called YOU! 🎶
*
From your Golden Globes speech that tugged at our hearts to your CW Upfront message about diversity and inclusion, to all the moments where you have used your platform to root for womyn, Brown folks, and Black folks--you have created a persona that you care about shining a light on those who are often ignored, mistreated, and excluded from the mainstream conversation. You positioned yourself as a champion by often leading these conversations. However, lately you've been getting it wrong. 🤷🏿
*
We want you to win but we want you to be responsible. Know that responsibilty means taking advantage of the opportunity to listen and do better. Hire somebody...a coach / a scholar / an activist to sit down and break down intersectionality, the Black diaspora, etc. After they break it down, keep them on your team to hold you accountable in your communication and actions. 📚
*
If not, folks will continue to question your intentions, dismiss your (white) tears and point out your unwillingness to get it right.🖊 BoriquaChicks.com ❤
