Happy full arch Friday! 👄
.
There are lots of treatment options for fully edentulous patients today, ranging from complete dentures, implant-assisted prostheses, to implant-supported prostheses. .
.
The pic above 👆🏻 is a full arch fixed prosthesis supported entirely by 6 implants for a patient of mine who previously wore a complete upper denture. These prostheses are sometimes referred to as a hybrid, all-on-4, or all-on-6, depending on how many implants are placed. One of the benefits of having a prosthesis supported fully by implants is that it allows the patient to function more closely to that of natural teeth. Often times, extractions and bone reduction, implant placement, and immediate load of the provisional prosthesis can be achieved in one surgical visit. It's important to spend plenty of time in the pre-treatment planning phase to achieve the most predictable final outcome and have a smooth process from start to finish!
