Have a Catchy Tagline

Your tagline is extremely important because in many cases it's what sells the brand. The tagline is a very short phrase that gives people an insight into what your business stands for. It should be concise and catchy.

Look at it like this way: at the end of the day, what do you really do? Beyond physically providing a product or service, what value do you give your customers and how can you say that in a catchy, marketable way?

For McDonalds, they provide their patrons with more than just a burger; they give them experiences that make them happy. So, at one point their slogan was “We love to see you smile”. Now it’s “I’m loving it”. For Chick Fil A, they have a cow as their mascot saying “Eat more chicken”. It’s a fun way to get their message across.

Nike is an inspirational brand and their tagline is “Just do it”. They motivate people to get moving and take action on whatever it is they want to accomplish in life; it’s bigger than shoes and clothes; it’s a movement.

What value do you bring to the table and how can you say it in a catchy way?

Refer back to your positioning statement. What do you do? Think big picture. For a landscape company the positioning statement is “We transform lawns and landscapes for residents to enjoy their outdoor experiences.” Bouncing off of that, a tagline could be: “Transforming yards into outdoor experiences”
And that's how the two tie in together. Pretty cool, huh?

Create Your Positioning Statement to Minimize Confusion

The positioning statement is essentially a one-liner that says who you are and what you do. It's like an abbreviated version of the elevator pitch and it can be used in all of your marketing collateral and networking.

To make writing your positioning statement simple, I have a simple formula you can follow: 
what do you do + 
who you do a for +
results/benefit they receive

When Choosing a Designer, Start With The Portfolio

PART 1/2
The #1 question I get is "What do you charge?" The questions I wish I got more is "Can I see your portfolio? Do you have any case studies?" Choosing a graphic or web designer is a BUSINESS DECISION so always start with their body of work FIRST, before you talk about pricing. If you don't like their body of work it doesn't matter how much they charge because they can't bring your vision to life. The designer's process in executing your project is much more important than their prices. 
P.S. I went long on this video because I can talk about this for hours. Lol.

5 Things You Should & Shouldn't Do to Your Website

1. Always have contact information. Don't leave people guessing. 
2. Don't have too much text and little images. There should be an 80/20 balance between the 2, favoring images. 
3. Have clear, visible calls-to-actions. What next step do you want people to take on your site? Shove it in their face. 
4. Don't put your social network icons at the top. This will keep visitors on your website as long as possible instead of leading them away.
5. Have a clear message. Remember that simple sells. Don't over complicate it with flashy jargon. People should be able to know what you do within 5 seconds.

Don't Say Yes to Everything

I've gotten to the point in my career where I don't work with everyone and can handpick my clients. I've hustled and worked insanely hard for almost a decade so I've earned the POWER OF NO 💥. The more often you reject the clients you don't really want to work with, the more you attract the clients you do. Don't say yes to everyone who comes your way. If you try to be all things to all people, you'll end up being anything to everyone, and you'll loose yourself in the process and eventually hate what you do. Figure what you're gifted at, hustle at it for 5-8 years then start to build a brand around it.

Communicate Your Value & Worth

What you say and how you say it is everything in branding and marketing.  When you sound like everyone else, your potential customers will go to the closest, cheapest, most convenient option they can find. You must understand that there's always someone willing to do it cheaper than you. But stick to your guns. The way you fight against that is to communicate your value. If the market doesn't SEE how valuable you are, they're certainly not going to PAY for it. So how do you communicate your value? Invest in your brand, your message and your marketing collateral. You have to LOOK like you deserve to be paid what you want to be paid.
