YTP's foundress and formator, Dr. Belén Tangco O.P., leading the gift-giving to the children of Asilo de San Vicente de Paul during our annual Christmas party. (December 10, 2017) #LayDominicansPH #Advent #FraternitiesOP
"Am I not here, I, who am your mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Are you not in the hollow of my mantle, the crossing of my arms? Am I not the source of all your joy? What more do you need? Let nothing else worry you, disturb you."
.
This is what the Virgin Mary told St. Juan Diego at Tepeyac Hill. She speaks the same words to us even today. Whatever difficulties you are facing, never forget that Mary cares for you.
.
O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee!

On December 10, 2017, we held our annual Christmas party with the children and youth of Asilo de San Vicente de Paul. A long-time partner of YTP, the Asilo is an orphanage and social services institution run by our friends from the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul. #Christmas #Advent2017 #LayDominicansPH #FraternitiesOP
"Mission is not about geography; it is about the spirit. It is not about territory; it is about attitude. It is not about where a friar is sent; it is about his consciousness of himself as one being sent to some frontier where the light of the Lord is absent or shines dimly." —Rev. Fr. Louie R. Coronel, O.P.

On the eve of the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, as we move towards our tenth year as a Lay Dominican chapter-in-formation, we humbly place this group —all its work, its pains, hopes, plans, and all its members past, present, and future— under the powerful and unfailing protection of the glorious Virgin Mary, Mother of God, Nuestra Señora del Santísimo Rosario.
.
As a sign of this perpetual dedication and with the blessing of our Reverend Father Spiritual Director, our Formator, and our Brother-President, our members have approved this new emblem. May She who is Mother of Mercy and Refuge of sinners welcome such unworthy sons in her arms.
.
We humbly invoke the prayers of her servants, our blessed fathers Dominic de Guzman and Thomas Aquinas.

Lover of humankind and Designer of Peace,
.
We praise you for your presence in our lives and in our broken world. Outraged by the inhumanity of people to one another, and by our lack of stewardship for our Earth and Earth’s resources, we call upon you to move us from the narrowness of our traditions to renewed ways of being your church; from being captives of our throw-away culture of death to being creative witnesses for justice, from the smallness of our horizons to the breadth of your vision.
.
With Dominic, Catherine, Antonio de Montesinos and Bartolome de las Casas as guides, make ready the way in us that we might call others to freedom and to renewed faith.
.
In Advent, as we prepare for the Incarnation of your Son, the wounded healer, call us from the preoccupations with our own histories and hurts to the daily tasks of peacemaking, from privilege and protocol to partnership and pilgrimage, from isolation and insularity to inclusive community where the refugee and the immigrant find a welcome and a home.
.
Transforming Holy Spirit, you call us from fear to faithfulness, from clutter to clarity, from a desire to control to a deeper trust, from the refusal to love to a readiness to risk.
.
In a special way, as you hear our prayer for Colombia, make ready in us the way that we might know the beauty and power of your gospel of joy.
.
Come and be born in us a-new!
.

Our Alma mater is the oldest existing #University in #Asia, having been founded in 1611. It enjoys the title, "The #Catholic University of the #Philippines."
.
Its students and alumni are called 'Thomasians,' after the great St. Thomas Aquinas. Hence the Young Thomasian Professionals Lay Dominican chapter-in-formation.

“If, then, you are looking for the way by which you should go, take Christ, because He Himself is the way.” ~Saint Thomas Aquinas

This Advent, may we contemplate Mother Mary’s Fiat...
And pray that like Her, we’d always give our “yeses” to God in total abandonment and faith... May we all receive the grace to always have room in our hearts for Jesus...

Letran Lay Dominicans with St. John Lateran Convent Prior Fr. Victor Calvo, OP at the San Lorenzo Ruiz and Companion Martyrs Parish in Dagat-dagatan, Navotas for the opening of the Dominican Peace Month. Had the chance to talk to a pair of siblings whose parents were victims of EJK. Their courage is admirable, but they need our prayers and presence to stand with them and accompany them in their journey to healing. #ordopraedicatorum #fraternitiesop #letranlaydominicans
The Arch of the Centuries used to be the main entrance to the original University of Santo Tomás campus in Intramuros, Manila. UST was founded in 1611; the Arch stood there until the destruction of the walled-city towards the end of World War II. Piece by piece it was transferred to and reassembled at the España campus. It has become a monument to four hundred years of UST and the Dominican pursuit of #Veritas or truth.

Why do we celebrate Christ the King Sunday?
.
This celebration, officially known as the 'Solemnity of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe,' was instituted by Pope Pius XI in 1925 in response to the rapidly growing secularization of the world. The times we live in is undoubtedly marked by growing disbelief in the presence of God, much less in the salvation needed by men and brought about by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. .
At first, Christ the King was celebrated on the last Sunday of October, but we now observe it on the last Sunday in Ordinary Time (this year, on November 26). It is only fitting that the liturgical calendar begins and ends with the celebration of the eternal Kingship of the Son of God. Jesus Christ, after all, is our first beginning and last end --the Alpha and the Omega.
.
Indeed, many of the Church's celebrations are intended to always remind us of the eternal and supreme kingship of Jesus Christ. This kingship is not nominal or ceremonial, like the monarchs of countries, but a real and powerful dominion. He first came as the merciful savior; we prepare for His second coming to judge the living and the dead.
.
This particular solemnity celebrates Jesus' supremacy over all kingdoms, governments, and powers on earth. It reminds us that no matter how powerful human beings and institutions can be, they will always be subject to decay and destruction. Only the crown of Jesus Christ will last forever. Only in Him do we find salvation, only in Him do we find life and true happiness everlasting.
.
"My Kingdom is not of this world," Jesus declared before Pilate (cf. John 18:36). To whom, then, do we give our allegiance? To this world or to Christ?
.
The choice is yours to make.
.
CHRIST THE KING, MAY YOUR KINGDOM COME!
