We’d like to introduce our 2016 Ada Lovelace Woman of the Year in GNO Tech! Dr. Anastasia Kurdia is a current Professor of Practice at Tulane’s Computer Science department, where she brings years of research and practical programming into play as an educator. We’re proud to recognize her as this year’s winner, and we’re honored to have the chance to share a city and a common commitment to technology with this exceptional woman. Congrats Dr. Kurdia!

WTSGNO congratulates our President and @lookfar_ideas Ada Lovelace Woman of the Year Award nominee Rashmita Das Chaudhuri. Rashmita is the first woman engineer out of the four generations of engineers in her family and finds it a constant challenge to be a female engineer in a male dominated industry. She was once denied internship by a construction company just because she is a woman. Later, she earned the same internship by proving her work and the company offered her a job. This incident ended up inspiring some of her fellow female engineers who were denied opportunities for the same reason and considered it to be fair. What she conveyed to them was, "It is not our gender rather our work that validates us." Today she is a Transportation Engineer at a Fortune-500 company, AECOM in New Orleans. Her goal is to keep motivating women to develop STEM skills to join this industry.
She currently works to analyze and improve traffic patterns throughout Louisiana and uses a lot of micro-simulation traffic software. She is also working on a Mobile App, CHOIX to improve Transportation through Technology.

We’re proud of FUHWE founder Patricia Maher who has just been nominated for the Ada Lovelace Woman of the Year in NOLATech Award for her work bringing locals and explorers together with FUHWE.

This award given annually honors the woman who has made the biggest impact on our region’s tech community. While they may not be coders themselves, Ada nominees are women who innovate, lead, and inspire through technology.

We hope to see you joining us in celebrating this honor and the women receiving it at the 2nd Annual Ada Lovelace Awards on October 11, 2016.
