While taking these photos Emmet kept pointing at Henry and I assumed he was excited because he loves his brother. But now that I am editing them and realizing that Henry was snuggled up with a blanket covered in birds I'm wondering if maybe Emmet was super stoked on the birds that are on the swaddle blanket. Emmet has been spending HOURS of the day looking out the window at the birds, watching bird videos on you tube, and pointing at every single bird (no matter how far away) on our walks, always saying "do you see?!?" So maybe, just maybe my bird paintings on this swaddle are accurate enough that my little bird watcher noticed them. I'm going to let myself assume that is the case. The other day Emmet got out my piece of white wood that I use for photographing my art/products (that is until I have a studio with a big beautiful white work surface) and started carefully arranging some of his felt vegetables on it. It made me wonder, is he mimicking me or is this purely coincidence? He's only seen me do it a handful of times because USUALLY I take photos when he is asleep. But occasionally he's awake and when he is awake he is photobombing my photos and I'm secretly really glad he does because they are always 10 times cuter. From my sketchbook, one of our new plants that Emmet and I got from Stone Creek Nursery. In this house we are blankie people. Both Dave and I (sorry Dave) were blankie kids when we were little, and so far Emmet is too. Emmet brings his blanket out of the crib with him every morning and nap and drags it all over the house all. day. long. It has just become a regular decor item in our living room. We're still watching Henry closely to see if he'll join in the family tradition 2 weeks old might be to early to make the call... But the fact that he already has 5 special blankets just might sway him in our direction.
