Just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who contributed to my goal with the #LBDIJLR. I met my goal, and am so thrilled to be able to give back to my community. You guys are the best friends a gal could have! 😘
My past intern Allison Duffy is back and she’s all grown up!!! I love her SO much! She came to talk about the #LBDIJLR and the @juniorleagueofrichmond ! So proud of the big things she’s doing! For more information, you can go to Mix981Richmond for more information!

#LBDIJLR I hung up my dress last night but the week won’t be forgotten. Thank you to everyone who donated! We still have a little bit left to go to reach our goal of $30k raised and donations can be made through the weekend. Still raising money for Safe Harbor, ChildSavers and Greater Richmond Fit for Kids. Any amount will help! Thank you! https://connect.clickandpledge.com/Organization/jlrichmond/campaign/2019/fundraiser/MaryCatharineKolbert/
Although I have hung up the black dress, I’m still $149 short of my fund raising goal. The link in my bio is now actually working (yay & oops) and it would mean so much to help the Junior League of Richmond, VA with our impact mission. We are at 70%, so a little push over the weekend may just get us there. If you have missed the info about the recipients - we are contributing to Safe Harbor which helps families escape violence and human trafficking, Fit4kids which targets education around childhood obesity, and Child Savers. For ChildSavers, please read on to understand how your dollars make a difference:
o $10 – Covers the cost of one educational and developmentally appropriate book for a child in early care
o $25 – Provides art and coloring supplies to a child care program
o $50 – Covers the cost of one trip to the farmer’s market to purchase healthy foods for a child care program
o $80 – Provides one child care provider with a Healthy Hydration kit or a Herbal Garden starter kit
o $100 – Provides ten books to a child care program to use in the classroom. THANK YOU for reading this post. Awareness is part of the campaign and it means so much to me that you guys care ❤️. Have a great weekend!
Have you seen our members in their same black dress or outfit all week? Today is our final push for donations!

THANK YOU for your support throughout the week as I participated in this incredible initiative. I met my goal, raised it, and then met it again thanks to y’all!!! That being said, Richmond STILL needs your help. I wore a black dress for only 5 days (now with my lunch on it), but 26% of Richmond residents live in poverty every day. Poverty limits individuals’ opportunities and choices—and not just in terms of clothing, but in education, in relationships, and in health.

So, I am making one more ask today - even $10 is SO meaningful! #LBDIJLR Link to donate 👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻👆🏻
Did you know that Richmond is one of the top 20 jurisdictions for sex trafficking in the US? Help us provide clothing for survivors at Safe Harbor. Give a gift of $25 today (http://ow.ly/4XgP30nJvk7 ) that can help provide a set of clothes for a survivor who arrives at the shelter with no clothing or personal items to call her own. Safe Harbor supports those who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence, sexual violence, or human trafficking. @CBS6 @SafeHarbor_RVA @Urichmond

Day 5 - Last day - #LBDIJLR. Same dress. Same statistics. 26% of Richmonders live in poverty.

Working at home this morning (with my coworker, Delta). How fortunate I am that I can work from home? Many don't have the luxury. Many have more than one job to make ends meet.

Please donate what you can to support these three organizations. They are the boots on the ground support for those in need in Richmond.
My donation link is in my comments. Thank you so much! https://connect.clickandpledge.com/Organization/jlrichmond/campaign/2019/fundraiser/MaryCatharineKolbert/
Well, Day 5 in my #LBDI and I am feeling a bit embarrassed since I spilt syrup on it yesterday and it's definitely NOT clean after wearing it for 5 days straight. Every year it helps me empathize with my students and others in our community who don't have as many clothing options as I do. I have noticed that my students are used to people wearing the same thing every day, and they never comment on it - children living in or amongst poverty have a much greater awareness than many of us do.
In any case, today is the last day, and I'd be eternally grateful for any gift you could make to our campaign. We are raising money to fund grants to 3 local nonprofits: ChildSavers, Safe Harbor, and Game on Girl summer sports camps.
Here is a breakdown of what your donation could look like for the kids at ChildSavers:
o $10 – Covers the cost of one educational and developmentally appropriate book for a child in early care
o $25 – Provides art and coloring supplies to a child care program
o $50 – Covers the cost of one trip to the farmer’s market to purchase healthy foods for a child care program
o $80 – Provides one child care provider with a Healthy Hydration kit or a Herbal Garden kit

For Safe Harbor your $10 donation will provide a hygiene kit for a survivor and a $25 donation could provide a set of clothing for a woman who had to escape her abuser with nothing but the clothes on her back.

For Game on Girl your donation of $27.50 could help fund a camp session for a young girl who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to participate. By age 18, the majority of girls do not engage in any physical activity outside of required PE classes–missing out on vital physical, mental, emotional, and social benefits of regular physical activity, and we are trying our best to CHANGE that statistic.
Additionally, please SHARE this information! These are wonderful organizations that are working super hard to raise the quality of life for our citizens, and we can be a voice for these women and children in our community.
Thank you again for taking the time the read and follow me this week! To donate please see the link in my bio 😘 #lbdijlr
DAY 4! My worlds collided tonight and I loved it!!! Members from my company attended a fundraising and celebration event at Safe Harbor, where my co-worker @thesylviamallory serves and where funds from #LBDIJLR are going. How amazing is this RVA community?
Fostering supportive relationships during children’s early years is critical to learning and promoting healthy brain development. It creates protection from challenging experiences that could cause a toxic stress response. Quality early care is a protective factor that benefits children in the long-term.
Over food, trusting and lasting relationships can be built. Help our members raise funding to support access to fresh foods, Healthy Hydration Stations and family style food delivery to childcare facilities.
A $50 contribution can provide one trip to the farmer’s market to purchase healthy foods for a child care program.

ChildSavers guides our community's children through life's critical moments with trauma-informed mental health and child development services.
Funding raised from LBDI will benefit three grant recipients and allow the JLR to continue living out its mission.
