In a step toward finding reliable #biomarkers to assist doctors in diagnosing #schizophrenia, researchers used #machinelearning to identify the illness in 78 percent of a small group of patients who had recently experienced their first psychotic episode.  With 82 percent accuracy, they were also able to predict whether the patients would respond to the #antipsychotic drug risperidone.

In a randomized study involving 66 patients, Ashwagandha, (Withania somnifera), was more effective than a placebo at reducing the “negative” and other general symptoms of #schizophrenia as well as patients’ stress over a 12-week treatment period.

I am representing SARDAA during The Walk Houston because it promotes hope and recovery through support programs, education, collaboration, and advocacy.
