15 blood + 3 platelet transfusions helped sustain Kailyn during aggressive chemo treatments for a childhood bone cancer. "Each blood transfusion gave her body much needed strength to withstand the powerful medicine she was receiving to save her life," said her mom, Jessica. "Without these blood transfusions, Kailyn would not have lived through her treatment." Give blood or platelets and give patients like Kailyn the strength to keep fighting:
The #RedCross & Disabled American Volunteers (DAV) came out in full force last week to show support for our military veterans. With the help of DAV Chapter BigD57, the Red Cross worked with the VA hospital to provide more than 300 military veterans at the Community Living Center in Dallas comfort, care and information.
In addition to each veteran receiving a t-shirt, volunteers sorted, counted and distributed 300 hygiene kits containing a wash cloth, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, comb and socks. Volunteers also provided packets with information on Alcohol and Substance abuse, the Domiciliary Care for Homeless Veterans Program (DOM), and inpatient Mental Health Crisis.
Thank you to everyone who helped the Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces continue serving those who served us!
Here in #NTX the weather is known to take quick turns. Download the #RedCross Emergency App to monitor more than 35 different weather & emergency alerts to keep you and your loved ones safe.
As heavy showers continue to pour out over #NTX, remember to stop and turn around if you approach flooded roadways. Flood waters prevent you from seeing the road conditions underneath the water and are often deeper than they appear. Turn Around Don't Drown!
