Today is the kick off of International Education Week, an annual celebration of the positive impact of exchange programs. Sponsored by the @statedept’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and the @usedgov, #IEW2017 begins with the release of the Open Doors Report, a comprehensive information resource on international students and scholars studying or teaching at higher education institutions in the United States, and U.S. students studying abroad for academic credit at their home colleges or universities. “When individuals go abroad to study, they make connections that broaden their worldview. They become part of an international network of people who share the experience of navigating new and unfamiliar landscapes, languages, cultures and institutions, gaining knowledge and skills, and developing resourcefulness and critical thinking abilities,” said Alyson Grunder, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy in the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). “This experience is crucial for young people who will increasingly compete and interact in an interconnected world.” Follow the week’s activities and updates by checking out #IEW2017 on social media. #OpenDoorsReport #ExchangeOurWorld
