This is a two-day class that is followed by an individual assessment of skills to receive a Certificate in grant writing. The leader of this class has a background human services, particularly housing, homelessness, and mental health!

One part of becoming a better community is the ability to look at ourselves objectively and say where can we do better? 
According to the FBI Washington has some work to do on improving racial relations. Hate crimes rose 78% between 2013 and 2017 in Washington state, according to a new study that shows this state saw the nation’s ninth-largest rise in bias crime during that time period.

Hate crimes are up 22% on a national level, with 8,500 cases reported to police between 2013 and 2017.

The New Wenatchee School District 246 is getting started on his new job in quick fashion!

He is looking to put talk into action in his first days on the job, according to a 10-page transition plan that will be presented to the school board Wednesday. The special meeting, from 1 to 5 p.m. at the district’s central office, 235 Sunset Ave., will be his first official public meeting with the five board members who hired him. He started July 1.

This meeting is open to the public and will be live-streamed. Check out the article in the bio for more details!

Community Initiatives Funding is dedicated to catalyzing new efforts and/or expanding current efforts to address the social determinants of health, advance whole person health, and promote community – clinical collaborations across Chelan, Douglas, Grant, and Okanogan counties. In short, we want to fund projects and initiatives that contribute to a healthier North Central Washington. 
This funding will be awarded through a community investment process managed through the Coalitions for Health Improvement. Applications are now open! Letters of Intent are due August 16, 2019.
