Flying into Friday with longtime AARP members Nick and Linda Oppegard! The two have been married 41 years, flying the whole time. They are pictured here in their 1929 biplane. Of their travels Nick said, "Just because we're older doesn't mean that we are in any way less capable of savoring and sharing grand adventures." Catch these two in our August/September issue. While the graduation at St. Marys High School Sunday evening draws the weekend festivities to a close the weekend isn’t over. On Monday morning members of the AMVETs local and others hold a Memorial Day parade. They march from the corner of Clay and Second Street to George Street stopping halfway on the bridge to Middle Island to say a prayer, pause in remembrance, and to lay a wreath in the waters of the Ohio. Afterwards the parade continues down Riverside Drive turning onto Clay Street and following it to the IOOF Cemetery to finish their services. I wasn't able to attend the parade this year and these come from the 2017 Memorial Day parade.

I’m @kristian_thacker, an editorial photographer based in West Virginia. I've been sharing what goes on in my hometown of St. Marys, West Virginia, every year on Memorial Day weekend. Each year alumni from St. Marys High School hold their class reunions. Alumni from all over the country come home to see their classmates and celebrate. In all my travels I've never seen anything like it anywhere else.
The festivities of the weekend are capped by the graduation ceremony for the outgoing seniors at St. Marys High School. Leslie Elliott, SMHS Class of '85, and her husband Damon were able to see their oldest son Spencer graduate this year. I’m @kristian_thacker, an editorial photographer based in West Virginia. Several former Alumni of the Year attend the alumni events each year. Johnny Bob Bills, Class of '57, was honored for his service to St. Marys High School and the town of St. Marys in 2012.

On Sunday before graduation there's always a small ceremony at the high school to honor the Alumnus of the Year. This year Sam Yoho, SMHS Class of '73, was honored.

While checking out the football field on Saturday for the upcoming high school graduation I stumbled upon a graduation party under the bleachers.
1. Hanlin Stadium still setup from earlier in the week when the outgoing seniors were practicing for graduation.
2. SMHS alumni, teacher, and football coach Jodi Mote, SMHS Class of '92, and his stepson Zac Long, SMHS Class of '18.
