AFRICYCLE is helping to mobilize women in rural Zomba through a bicycle financing program. Funding recieved from #globalaffairscanada is allowing us to train and equip women with bicycle mechanics and business training, providing the skills to build a sustainable network of bicycle financing. Almost every woman enrolled acknowledged that without access to a program like this, purchasing a bicycle would be beyond their means. Now with trained agents, many more women will have this opportunity! Funding was provided through Canadian fund for local initiatives #cfli

A container from @b4hcalgary handled by our good friends @b4hvictoria landed in Zomba yesterday. A beautiful bluebird day to recieve another load of bikes. Thanks to all who helped contribute in making this happen. We were especially excited to get some beautiful road bikes and gear for our local road cycling team!

Thanks to a wonderful young family from Uxbridge, Angelina is going to get the nourishment she needs! You guys are the best!
Today we delivered a bike to Funny who has recently adopted Angelina. Her 17 year old mother passed away suddenly and at 5 months, very under-developed, will need special care. The bike will help her cover 40km a day, where Angelina will be supported by Shine Relief Trust, who care for orphans and young mothers in Zomba. This group does some amazing work and it's always great to be able to help when we can. These stories are unfortunately not isolated and it's always amazing to see how much help a bike can be in these situations. We are hoping to raise $70/mth over the next year to help provide her with the milk and food she needs.
