We'd caption this with a waterfall pun but that's too mainstream...😜 #Litchfield National Park is one of the Top End's many regions shaped by water 💦 Over the millennia, the relentless flow has created a dramatic landscape of sheer escarpments and deep gorges, not to mention some of the most inviting swimming spots in @Australia - including stunning Florence Falls. Take a couple of days to explore the 1,500 square kilometre park, studded with hiking trails, gushing cascades and croc-free waterholes - there's plenty to see! There are several major freshwater swimming holes fed by beautiful waterfalls, many of which are accessible by conventional two wheel-drive vehicles. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @robmulally!

These distant 'mountains' might look a bit like giant marshmellows but they're actually the ancient domes of #KataTjuta (#TheOlgas)! Located roughly 35 kilometres west of #Uluru, they sit shoulder to shoulder and form a spectacular and unique configuration of deep valleys and steep gorges spread over more than 20 kilometres (12.4 miles). You can explore these red ''rockbergs'' via walking trails that range from easy strolls to longer, more difficult tracks or view them from the air on a scenic helicopter flight. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @chicken.noodyls! #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT
Travel back in time on a boat cruise through Nitmiluk (#Katherine) Gorge... ✨ With the tropical summer months fast approaching, it's the ultimate opportunity to explore a different side to this ancient gorge system. The majestic waterfalls are in full flow, the landscape bursts into life and the sunsets get even better 🙌 Over the next few months you can choose from a number of boat cruises with @NitmilukTours that'll help you to see all of this up close, along with learning about the local aboriginal culture and a swimming option at a seasonal waterfall. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @katiegoldie_! #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd #NitmilukNT #VisitKatherine
Located in the southern end of #Kakadu National Park, Maguk Gorge is pretty unique - it's one of the only waterfalls in #Kakadu National Park that flows while there is no rain. After a 1 kilometre walk through monsoon forest and along a creek, you'll come to a large clear plunge pool... but for maximum wow factor and jealous mates, make like @curlycally and hike up above the falls where you'll find a series of smaller plunge pools with amazing views. You can thank us later! Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, Callum. #SeeAustralia #TourismTopEnd #SeeKakadu
You're looking bloomin' beautiful here, Palm Valley! Welcome to Finke Gorge National Park in central @Australia. Apart from the adventure of driving along the oldest river in the world, Palm Valley hosts a maze of sandstone amphitheatres, pinnacles and gorges and is home to the Red Cabbage Palm after which the valley is named. Fun fact: this particular species of palm is only found in this area! It takes roughly 2 hours to get here from #AliceSprings and you'll need a four-wheel drive vehicle 👉 if you don't have one, there are tour operators that can take you on a guided tour 👌 There are a number of walking trails, ranging from short to long and a campground if you're keen to stay overnight and explore for longer! Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @dubstamatic. #SeeAustralia #RedCentreNT
Welcome to @TiwiIslandRetreat - the ultimate place to kick back, enjoy the pool, go fishing and experience a pretty all round amazing location. This private retreat is situated at Munanampi Point on the south western coast of Bathurst Island, the smaller of the two major islands which make up the Tiwis (located 80 kilometres north of #Darwin). It sits on the water’s edge with sweeping views over Port Hurd and the Timor Sea 🙌 The ecosystem around the retreat is virtually untouched with turtles, crocodiles, stingrays, mud crabs, dolphins, sharks and an abundance of birdlife right on its doorstep. Their trip packages are designed for friends, couples or groups wanting to explore more of the Tiwi Islands and include return charter flights and twin share rooms with shared facilities. The retreat also offers various activities such as scenic helicopter flights, mud-crabbing, art and cultural experiences along with a swimming hole adventure. Did we mention the stars are pretty awesome too?! Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @iamsavi!

When Nat from finance says there's free cake in the staff kitchen late in the arvo... 😜 The annual Red Centre Bird Festival is currently in full swing here in #AliceSprings with a number of activities on offer such as photography tours, field trips and talks by bird specialists. Keen birdwatchers will be amazed by the wide variety of bird-life in Central Australia, including incredible iconic species such as the Spinifex Pigeon, Dusky Grasswren, Rufous-crowned Emu-wren, Bourke’s Parrot and Mulga Parrot. If you can't make it for the festival, be sure to drop in at the @AliceSpringsDesertPark where you can witness the free-flying birds of prey and a variety of native wildlife daily. The Devils Marbles (#KarluKarlu) are best described as a photography site that offers a very Aussie spin on an almost Stonehenge-style location 👌 Consisting of a large number of granite boulders scattered randomly across a wide valley, they're mind-boggling examples of erosion and time. This 1,802 hectare reserve extends along both sides of the Stuart Highway and is roughly 400 kilometres north of #AliceSprings. Stay overnight at the nearby campground to see the large boulders change colour in the early morning light and setting sun, or alternatively book in at the Devils Marbles Hotel, just 8 kilometres away. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @saltytravellers!

This photo of Berry Springs proves that getting out and exploring #Darwin's surrounds is *very* important and will make your mates incredibly jealous 💦😜 Not only is this natural swimming spot ridiculously beautiful, it's also only a 45 minute drive from our tropical capital and well set up with picnic areas, BBQ's and a kiosk. There are several shady pools along Berry Creek which have steps allowing easy access. The top pool even has a small waterfall to sit under for a relaxing massage! A lovely loop walking track takes you through two of the Top End’s natural wildlife habitats. It starts from the picnic area – so take along your binoculars if you are keen on bird watching. Yup, this is heaven on earth! Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @powershala.

Let us set the scene for you... a spectacular, 360-degree view of wetlands stretching endlessly out to the horizon and the stone country of Arnhem Land all bathed in the rich afternoon glow 💛 Yep, we're talking about the lookout at Ubirr, #Kakadu National Park's most famous spot for sunset 🙌 Located in the East Alligator region of the park, it's home to some of the world's most outstanding rock art and is an area steeped in Aboriginal culture and tradition. The 1 kilometre circuit walk passes several sites before leading up to this very special vantage point. As the sun begins to dip, the selfies start to slow and the crowd finds a perch to watch nature’s light show in awe. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @imlukemackenzie!

Spring might have sprung but this grand show is a year round occurrence in the Red Centre! One of the great natural wonders of the world, #Uluru towers above the surrounding landscape. While this iconic monolith looks incredible at any time of the day, golden hour is particularly special. As the sun hits it on its way down, the colour of the rock changes from a sizzling red to burnt orange to a deep purple as the light fades. This magnificent spectacle is truly mesmerising ❤️ Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @chicken.noodyls!

Saturday morning brunch, NT style! Discover the rugged landscapes, wildlife, and Aboriginal and pastoral histories of the East MacDonnell Ranges at Trephina Gorge Nature Park. Located 85 kilometres east of #AliceSprings, the park is a handy distance for a day or a longer trip, and is known for its short walks, epic views and endless natural beauty. Experienced walkers can complete the Trephina Ridgetop Trail to John Hayes Rockhole and take in sweeping views of the East MacDonnell Ranges. The park has a campground with caravan sites, fire pits, picnic areas and toilets. Cheers for tagging #NTaustralia, @we_who_roam!
