TODAY! Acclaimed Play The Colored Museum to be Performed at Central State University
WILBERFORCE, OH. - The Central State University Department of Fine and Performing Arts will perform The Colored Museum on Nov. 17 and 18.
The free performances will take place in Central State’s Paul Robeson Cultural & Performing Arts Center. The play, which is written by George C. Wolfe, unfolds in a series of 11 “exhibits” (sketches) that explore and satirize prominent themes and identities of African-American culture. The Colored Museum simultaneously celebrates, satirizes and subverts the African-American legacy. Wolfe calls his play both, “an exorcism and a party.” For the production, the audience will be invited to sit on the stage as the story intimately unfolds in front and around them.
The production is directed by CSU Drama Instructor John Fleming. It features music by jazz performer and CSU Alumna Tucki Bailey. The show begins at 7:30 p.m. each day. The 2017-2018 Theatre Arts Program is presented by Central State University’s Title III Program in conjunction with the Department of Fine and Performing Arts.

My name is Michael “Mac” McBride and I am a Veteran of the Cold War and First Gulf War. I am also a volunteer trainee from Goodwill Easter Seals who also staffs the Central State University Military Services Support Center at CSU-Dayton.
At the Central State University-Dayton location, the main lobby is adorned with a small humble display of pictures of military men and women throughout American history. Some have short historical notes to inspire further research of the person or the war they represented. The display also has a plaque hand crafted by me to represent all branches of the military as well as the men and women who wore the uniforms of our nation. The plaque bears these words, “All Gave Some, Some Gave All”. Also on the plaque are Purple Hearts for the wounded and Gold Stars for those that bestowed the ultimate sacrifice.
Our hope is that as you pass by the display, you will take a few moments to reflect upon the meaning of Veterans Day. For many it is more than a day off or a retail event, but a time to be with my sisters and brothers that wore our nations uniforms and talk about their experiences.
