DeKalb to Host Fall Household Hazardous Waste Event for County Residents

The DeKalb County Sanitation Division will host a household hazardous waste recycling event Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, from 8 a.m. – noon, at the Sanitation Division’s Central Transfer Station, 3720 Leroy Scott Drive, Decatur, GA 30032.

This event will offer county residents an opportunity to properly dispose of dangerous household items that are no longer in use. 
Hazardous materials, such as aerosols, batteries, adhesives, flammables, lawn care products, fluorescent light bulbs, photo chemicals, paint, paint-related products and artist supplies, will be accepted. Agricultural waste, ammunition, radioactive materials, pharmaceuticals, and biohazardous and biomedical waste will not be accepted. Paint will be limited to 10 gallons per vehicle.

Participation is free and only open to DeKalb County residents. Proper identification to prove DeKalb County residency may be requested.

Three Community Open Houses Scheduled for DeKalb County Transit Master Plan
DeKalb County Government, in partnership with the Atlanta Regional Commission, and the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority are working together to develop DeKalb County’s Transit Master Plan.
The Charter Review Committee has scheduled a meeting on October 22, 2018 starting at 7:00PM. The Meeting will be held in the Clarkston Council Room, 3921 Church Street. The Public is invited to attend.
On Sunday, October 14, City of Clarkston contractors will begin the overnight resurfacing of both of the I-285 Access Ramps at Church Street.
Crews will begin set up work at 7 p.m. and are expected to complete the project Monday, October 15 at 7:00am. 
Lane access will be open, but there may be brief Ramp closures to relocate equipment. During construction, drivers can expect heavy equipment and trucks in the area as well as traffic delays.
