On most Fridays, you can find Ryan downtown at @tincanbar whipping up another impressive chalk mural. ⁣
⁣
Around town, Ryan's known as the "chalk guy." He regularly participates in @oldtownlansing's Chalk of the Town event and the Tin Can's chalk art competitions, and also leads educational art programs for children with special needs in the area. "My passion is combining art with learning," he says.⁣
⁣
But what you might not know is that Ryan ain't afraid of no ghost.⁣
⁣
On the weekends, Ryan suits up as an active member of Lansing Ghostbusters, part of the Great Lakes Ghostbuster Coalition. The team travels across the city and state in an exact replica of the Ghostbusters hearse, appearing at events and visiting kids at local hospitals. (Be sure to honk if you see the car around town–it's pretty difficult to miss.)⁣
⁣
A Colonial Village resident, Ryan's lived in Lansing for 30 years. "I love the mix of cultures all around. I'm super Lansing, man." Ryan's kind of people are passionate and unafraid to be themselves. Who are your Lansing people? Let us know through the link in our bio.⁣

"We wanted to be intentional about where we lived. I grew up in a diverse area, and I wanted the same for my kids." For @lansingignite head coach Nate and his wife Darcy, a strong community was a top priority when they chose a home in Lansing.⁣
⁣
Parents to three kids under 5, Nate and Darcy were drawn to Lewton Elementary School's Global Studies and Spanish Immersion Magnet program, right down the street from their home in Westchester. Having grown up in Jerusalem and Kenya, Nate says giving his kids a global educational experience was important. When he's not coaching, Nate likes to play even more soccer with his kids at @playatbeacon or discover local restaurants with his family. ⁣
⁣
With their Inaugural Match this Saturday, Ignite is putting Lansing on the map as a national soccer city. Welcome to the neighborhood, Nate, Darcy and family–Lansing sure is glad to have you. ⁣
⁣
Nate's kind of people "live open lives and want to invest in their community." (Goooal.) Who are your Lansing people? Let us know through the link in our bio. ⁣

"Create the life you love." That's some pretty good advice from Svitlana.⁣
⁣
Since she moved to Lansing two years ago, Svitlana's made herself a well-known part of the local arts scene as a painter and business owner. She does most of her creative thinking in her studio at @cedarstreetartcollective, a communal retail and studio space for Lansing-based artists. She says that getting involved with Lansing's art festivals, shows and galleries has not only helped her extend her reach, but has given her opportunities to meet countless creatives with shared interests. ⁣
⁣
A REO Town dweller, Svitlana chose Lansing because of its density and accessibility. Having grown up in a city, she appreciates being within walking distance of restaurants, coffee shops and farmers markets. ⁣
⁣
Svitlana's kind of people are creative. Have genuine intentions. Value integrity. Who are your Lansing people? Let us know through the link in our bio.⁣

A senior at Eastern High School, Anissa is proud to be a part of the last graduating class in the school's historic Pennsylvania Avenue building, which first opened in 1928. Next year, students will move to the current Pattengill Middle School building. .

Anissa says that Eastern's inclusive environment motivated her to try new things. "I joined the golf and tennis teams on a whim, and ended up liking both. I probably never would've tried golf anywhere else–we just like to cheer each other on and have fun." .

A lifelong Lansing resident, Anissa and her family live in Lansing's Walnut neighborhood. People might not know that she has a unique passion for food and agriculture–she's all about those local and organic veggies. After graduation, Anissa plans to study sustainability at Western Michigan University. (But with strong Lansing roots and family here, we have a feeling we'll still be seeing her around town.) .

Anissa's kind of people are empathetic, and value a tight-knit community. Who are your Lansing people? Let us know and see our vision through the link in our bio.

Joan's kind of people are park-loving, food-loving folk who believe that "friendly is underrated." ⁣
⁣
If you know Joan, you know that her passion for local food, neighborhoods and green space is bar none. As director of @allenneighborhoodcenter on the Eastside, Joan sees food as a way for people in Lansing to come together. She says "it's exciting how many opportunities there are to participate in Lansing's burgeoning urban agriculture movement." With urban farms scattered across the city and ten on the Eastside alone, we've got local produce pretty much coming out of our ears.⁣
⁣
Over the 49 years she's lived in Lansing, Joan's discovered that our city is more than a place–it's an experience. As she puts it, "it's difficult not to know your neighbor." And we've got more than 150 organized neighborhood groups to help you out with that.⁣
⁣
Who's your Lansing neighbor? Let us know and see our vision through the link in our bio.⁣

#TBT to 1859, when Lansing was incorporated as a city. We had fewer than 3,000 residents back then, but we like to think they were still our kind of people. ⁣
⁣
Nearly 200 years ago, two brothers from Lansing, New York plotted the area just south of downtown Lansing and named the territory "Biddle Town." Later, when the state's capitol was repositioned, the small village quickly expanded and added a city-wide rail system, a plank road and the current state Capitol Building. (And, today, we've got a parking app in the works. Possibly our greatest innovation yet.)⁣

Sure, the dictionary says home is "a place where one lives permanently." But to us in Lansing, "home" means a whole lot more. ⁣
⁣
From modern loft-style apartments to historic houses across 18 neighborhoods, Lansing's homes are defined by a sense of community, not square footage. Here, "home" extends beyond four walls: It's sending our kids to learn in diverse, inclusive environments. It's swinging by the local coffee shop without having to give the barista a name—they already know it. It's returning from out of town and seeing @wynken_blynken_nod_lansing in the distance, knowing we're back home with our kind of people. ⁣

"Don't be fooled by its seemingly calm facade." For Maurica, Lansing is more than the sum of its parts. ⁣
⁣
To Maurica and her brother, Paul, Lansing is home. A Westside resident, she's a graphic designer for the tourism and hospitality industry. But just like the city itself, there's more to our people than meets the eye; Maurica is also a proud Lansing Community College alumna and huge Harry Potter fan. (More specifically, she's a Hufflepuff. In case you were wondering.)⁣
⁣
Maurica loves Lansing's small-town feel, with city perks. You can find her at Pablo's in Old Town, Fresh Fish and Fry in South Lansing, or the Crafted Bean downtown. "Lansing is teeming with fun events and locally owned businesses that make you feel welcome."⁣
⁣
Maurica's kind of people? Authentic. Passionate. And still know how to have fun along the way. Who are your Lansing people? ⁣

Walk down the street in Lansing for a world of possibilities. Sample dishes you can't pronounce, overhear a different language, ask yourself where, exactly, that music in the distance is coming from. With an avid arts scene and festivals throughout the year, Lansing feeds curiosity while inspiring even more questions in the process. ⁣

People around town know Brad as the CEO of @ridecata. But a little-known fact is, when he’s not riding the bus, Brad’s probably riding a bike. Very far.⁣
⁣
As an avid bike rider, Brad’s biked all corners of Lansing: in and around the city’s river trail, corridors and 111 parks. “I enjoy Lansing’s unique opportunities to experience nature in the center of the city. They’re outstanding and exist throughout the community.”⁣
⁣
Brad has lived in Lansing’s Old Everett neighborhood for about a year and a half. He appreciates the city’s neighborly feel and, of course, its accessible public transportation. He says it’s big enough for countless opportunities, but small enough to traverse the whole community.⁣
⁣
Brad’s kind of people are kind. Ambitious. Willing to help each other out. Who are your kind of people? Let us know and see our vision for Lansing’s city design (and bikeability) through the link in our bio.⁣

Despite both living in Lansing, Andi and Halie met online. Their first date was at Stober's Bar on the Eastside, where they shared beer for dinner. And the rest is history. ⁣
⁣
Andi's lived in Lansing for about six years, and Halie for five. Today, they live in Lansing's Colonial Village neighborhood and love exploring the great outdoors whenever possible: building bonfires, boating, hiking in the snow, playing lawn games or stargazing. ⁣
⁣
With Lansing's central location, they love how they can always hop in the car and go. They can travel up north for a long weekend, to a concert in Detroit on a weeknight, to get dinner with friends in Grand Rapids or to one of the Great Lakes, each within an hour's drive. And when they stay in town, they always have relatives, chosen family and Spartans nearby. ⁣
⁣
Andi and Halie's kind of people are fiercely loyal. Open-minded. Generous with their time, energy and laughter. And they appreciate sweatpants. (But really, who doesn't?) Who are your Lansing people? Let us know and see our vision for the city through the link in our bio.⁣
