E-policy: risks and opportunities for this new way of making policy by Alexis Wichowski.

Social networks have transformed the way in which public policies are designed and implemented. 140 characters are enough -- to replace press releases and press conferences as well as research with analysis and proposals -- to announce, defend or discard decisions. This dynamic has a profound impact on the government's relationship with citizenship as it opens the way for the first to report on its agenda, operation and guidelines in a trivial and simplistic manner... and for citizens to respond immediately and without further analysis With your support, rejection or indifference.

This new way of making policy, which we call e-policy, presents us with new questions: social networks enhance or undermine the process of formulating public policy, transparency and the quality of democracy?, the casual nature of the Has social media conversations made the government more accessible to citizenship or has it simply eroded the quality of dialogue? And perhaps most important: ultimately, are our citizens better informed and more engaged civically? Or are tweets and selfies tools to promote a flat and democracy?

The Conference will discuss these questions, examining both the potential and the dangers of this new political phenomenon.

Mumbai is among six Indian cities to have committed to C40 Cities, a network of the world's mega-cities committed to reducing both greenhouse gas emissions and climate risks. A lot more still needs to be done though, to develop best practices, facilitate peer learning, and engage in knowledge exchanges.
With this in mind, we're hosting a closed-door workshop with Sanjay Sridhar, Regional Director for South and West Asia, C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group, to collaboratively draw up a framework for future action and to ensure Mumbai participates more actively in this global forum. #ColumbiaGlobalCenters #ColumbiaUniversity #cgcmumbai #mumbai #india #c40 #leadership #future #global #climate #cities
Nosso diretor, Thomas Trebat, durante o anúncio do novo programa de educação executiva do IEL/FIRJAN em parceria com a Columbia University in the City of New York.
#ColumbiaGlobalCenters #ColumbiaUniversity #cgcrio #rio #riodejaneiro #brazil #international #program
