You guys...I used to love chocolate ice cream and now I'm totally dunzo with it. I KNOW! I AM MAD AT ME TOO! 😭 I don't know what it is about growing older, but it's definitely confusing when I still think I'm in my 20s but my body is like, nah, boo, you need to calm it down on the sugar and dairy. 😩 Can I just say thank goodness for the vegan @halotopcreamery options? I swear this isn't an ad, I'm legit just a fan (unless @halotopcreamery wants to sponsor me, cuz I'm here for you, babes!) πŸ™ŒπŸ»
Want to know how insecure an artist can be? Probably not, but I'm going to tell you anyway. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‚ Two weeks ago, I wanted to quit art. It had been 6 months of self-doubt and depression. I was tired of taking classes and reading books, trying to keep my motivation going. Sometimes I would feel great, but most days, not so much. I felt like I was going through a breakup that was 100% my fault.
What am I doing wrong?
Where do I go from here?
Why even try? Nobody cares.

So I deactivated my account. I was actually going to delete it (super dramatic, I know), but a friend told me to deactivate, just in case I wanted to come back. So I went dark. Focused on other things in my life. Did not pick up a pencil or stylus for two weeks...and I'm so glad I did.

Today, it happened. The spark I needed finally returned and I sketched for non-stop for three hours. I don't think that would have happened if I had not taken that break. I've always preached to "take care of yourself" and "make time for self-care" but I have a funny way of not following my own advice.
So I'm reminding you (and myself) to do just that. Do not force creativity. Make time for yourself to enjoy the world around you. Stumble upon new things, take up new hobbies, discover more about yourself.
I'm not saying this solves everything, but it can provide new perspectives. Answers to questions you didn't know needed answering. Down to its core, art is emotional. This is why an artist can go through so many ups and downs. This is why it is so important to take care of yourself. And this is why I will keep talking about it. πŸ’– If you ever feel like you need someone to talk to, I'm here, just a DM away. πŸ’ž
We went to lovely Morro Bay this weekend and practically inhaled the salt water taffy 😍 Recently, I've been getting weary of touristy places like Palm Springs and Pismo Beach. I loved this quiet beach town and can't wait to go back! Do you have any hidden gems like this in your state?
Do you prefer a stationary or swinging gondola? πŸ˜‰ I always want a swinging one but no one will ever ride with me! 😭 #WHPjourney
My kid made this board game. He MADE THIS. 😍 He wished that there was a #TheAmazingWorldofGumball board game, so he took two days to make it himself. πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ I was gushing over it, and a friend told me "He gets that from you. You both make things you wish were already in the world." Is it weird that I didn't realize that until now? You never know who you might be inspiring with your work, especially your kids! 😁😁😁 So keep on writing, making, drawing, or whatever it is that you love to do because somewhere out there, you are sparking someone's passion. As creatives, it is our responsibility and honor to keep that fire going! πŸ’›
πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ As we celebrate the #4thofJuly with our loved ones today, let us remember to take care of one another. β€πŸ’™ Fight for those that cannot fight for themselves. Take care of those seeking better lives. I love this country because they welcomed my parents when they were fleeing a war-torn country. I would not be here if it weren't for this country. πŸ’™β€ We are going through some rough times right now but I still believe in the goodness of Americans. Make your voices heard. VOTE. Keep up the fight because people are worth it.
We are officially halfway through 2018, and it has been one unconventional year so far for Cozy Reverie. πŸ€“ Today on the blog, I'm talking about 5 things I realized during my creative hiatus! 🌈 (notebook above is from the #GirlsArtNow @society6 event)
So many lightbulb moments in this book by @adamjk πŸ’‘πŸ’‘πŸ’‘ I've been dying to buy this for months, and finally stumbled into a @barnesandnoble where I was lucky enough to snag their last copy! πŸŽ‰ Highly recommended to any and all creatives that are trying to make sense of this crazy, artsy life. 😁
Don't you love watching shows that you can't stop thinking about? That's exactly how I felt about #GlowSeason2! 🌟🌟🌟 I didn't think it could get any better than last season, but it did! The Emmys better recognize cuz this cast and crew did an amazing job. πŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌπŸ‘πŸΌ Have you seen it? If not, WATCH IT.
I've been lagging on staying active during the hot weather so I'm hoping to sneak in some yoga every day to give my mind and body a much needed break πŸ˜‰ What are your favorite summer workouts? πŸ’ͺ#Whprelax
How is it possible that I keep finding more class shirts in my closet? πŸ€”
Impatiently waiting for my husband to get home so we can start binge-watching season 2 of Glow on @netflix! πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ’ͺ🏼πŸ’ͺ🏼 I can't wait for more of #ZoyatheDestroya!
