Crossing the Forest of Bowland on my hike was a superb, airy yomp over the fells following a clear track called the Hornby Road. This contrasted with the earlier part of the walk that saw me floundering around in a bog trying and failing to locate the path. The subsequent walk over the tops more than made up for it however. #lejog #forestofbowland #slaidburn #hikingadventures #hiking

Currently having a rest day in beautiful Heptonstall near Hebden Bridge. The church was damaged by a storm in the Mid-nineteenth century so they just built another next to it! #lejog #heptonstall #hebdenbridge #hikingadventures

The first part of my hike followed a long section of the Offa's Dyke Path. This eighth century earthwork along the the Welsh/English border is shrouded in mystery but is thought to have been built by King Offa, possibly as a defensive barrier between Mercia and Wales. The Offa's Dyke National Trail follows sections of the dyke, which at times resembles nothing more than a non-descript embankment and at others, a fairly impressive earthwork. #lejog #offasdyke #nationaltrails #offasdykepath #hikingtrail
The wild garlic while walking the banks of the River Dee on the Maelor Way was so abundant and the aroma so strong that you could almost taste it. #lejog #maelorway #wildgarlic #riverdee #hikingtrail #hikingadventures #hikingculture #hiking
It would appear that I am destined to struggle with my hike from Land's End to John O'Groats. Having experienced problems last year, I am now struggling with a problem with my lower leg. After taking a three day break in the hope that the rest would help, the leg was unfortunately no better on today's hike. My schedule was based on an average of 19/20 miles a day but today I struggled to complete 11 miles over flat ground along the Offa's Dyke Path following the Montgomery Canal and River Severn. On the upside the weather was the best so far. Tomorrow, I intend following the Offas Dyke path to Chirk. #offasdykepath #lejog
I saw this little creature playing in a river on the Offa's Dyke path and at first thought that it was an otter. A comment from someone elsewhere online suggested that it may be a mink. Either way, I was entertained by it's antics as it played in and around the water. #offasdykepath #hiking #wales #england #border
Spectacular hiking in the Teide National park. I love taking friends who are unfamiliar with the island on hikes like this high level yomp because not only do I get to enjoy the walking but also their reactions to the amazing scenery. #Tenerife #teide #canaryislands #canaries #canarias #lascañadas #sombrerodechasna #hikingadventures #hikingcanaryislands
On Montaña Colorada following a trail from Las Lajas to Casas de Teresme. The countryside in this area was remote and quiet with far-reaching views of the surrounding hills and forest. I love walking alone without seeing anyone for hours, it's like a defragmemtation for the soul. #tenerife #canaryislands #canarias #canaries #hikingtrail #hikingculture #hikingadventure #hiking #mountains #mountainspirit

Not a bad view for a break on our walk in the Las Cañadas National park. #TENERIFE #lascañadas
