#KeepingItReal - This month, Grazia caught up with six powerful women who are breaking the rules beauty in our Insta-filtered world.

KAYAAN CONTRACTOR
Image maker

Everything about Kayaan screams unconventional and she’s never been one to stick to the rules. As an internet baby, she stands out from the crowd for her offbeat look and uber cool personality. “I mean there should never have been any rules. I don’t know who has set these standards. I am a short girl with short hair and pimples when they need to come out. But I still feel good about myself. Just drink lots of water.” @Dove #LetsBreakTheRulesofBeauty 📷: @arsh_sayed

EKTA RAJANI
Design and Creative Consultant

She grew up wanting to be a girly girl. But over the last two decades, her beauty ideals have turned fluid. You can see it reflected in the way she lives and in all her work in the fashion industry. “I think as all things in our lives go, it’s about choice. And I chose not to colour my hair. I know that I’ve loved grey hair since I was 20 years old, and now I’m also greying interestingly. I think anything can be beautiful – it’s how you look at it. The freedom to be able to change and evolve with time is so liberating – I feel like I want to keep it as real as possible.” @Dove #LetsBreakTheRulesofBeauty 📷: @arsh_sayed

TOSHADA UMA
Petite Model

Toshada is four feet and eight inches tall, has alopecia and is a social media superstar. Her message is loud and clear: Traditional beauty standards are old news. “Self-acceptance is the key to feeling (which equals looking) beautiful. In my opinion, it’s important to look past what society decides is beautiful and identify what makes you unique as an individual in your own right.” @Dove #LetsBreakTheRulesofBeauty 📷: @arsh_sayed
