Did you know this piece of history about the Junior League of Pasadena?
The Junior League of Pasadena house was originally owned by the Colemans. The building itself was built in 1905 and designed by architect J.J. Block who also built the Star News building. Today it is the only pre-1910 building on the this south block of Madison.

Did you know March is Women’s History Month? We’re celebrating by featuring some of our very own Junior League Sustaining Members!

Meet, Marah Lyvers! Get to know a little more about Marah and her experience with JLP!
Getting to know Marah Lyvers
What year did you join Junior League of Pasadena?
Would you like to tell us about your family?
Married to Trevor Hill for 20 and counting. A dog named Chief (#chiefviszla). I started my own company (www.m1trainingconsulting.com)! #m1tc
What was your favorite placement, role or memory with the Junior League when you were a member?
My first love is SPAC. I also enjoyed the presidency a LOT. I truly appreciated the work we did on behalf of middle school girls, Girls ROCK!
What is your favorite quote or mantra to live by?
How you play is how you show up in life.
Do you work or volunteer your time someplace in the community? If so, where? What is your role?
Yes. and YES! I opened my own company (see earlier answer). And, I volunteer as the board chair of the Lake Avenue Community Foundation (www.lakeavefoundation.org) supporting youth and families in the north-west Pasadena area.
What was the most important thing you learned during your time as an Active Member of JLP?
Engage. If you expect change, roll up your sleeves and do the work. Oh, and collaborate! (Want to go fast, go alone. Want to go far, go together. ~ African Proverb)
What JLP project had the most impact on you personally?
Within SPAC, the "Speak Up When You Are Down" campaign bringing awareness to the issues of postpartum and perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. The project still has far reaching impact.
What JLP project had the most impact in the community while you were a JLP Active Member?
Locally- I believe it to be a combination... my heart is always with the teenage girl- yet it's difficult to measure that impact. I think we are really gaining traction with BELS and look forward to it (in tandem with our PasadenaHelp.org project) having a broad reaching effect.

Love our incredible League members! 🌹 We loved getting to see all the ways our women are celebrating Women’s History month, International Women’s Day, and celebrating the places they work, the ideas they support, and what they all believe in everyday! Photo: @saramccarthy .

Another night, another special event with @jlpasadena where we got to meet the women from leagues all over the state. Every time I have the opportunity to go to the home base of the Tournament of Roses I think about how happy I am that I ended up in Pasadena. 😍
Happy Saturday! Let’s keep lifting each other up. #shinetheory #empoweredwomenempowerwomen #jlpasadena #pasadena #juniorleague #repost @libbyvanderploeg
