“At UREC, there seems to be a culture of saying yes first. It was UREC’s idea to pursue the purchase of sport wheelchairs and offer wheelchair basketball and other sports for JMU students of all abilities. The outdoor recreation and climbing staff have adapted to help me and others get up the ropes course to zip line as well as the climbing wall. It’s refreshing that our campus recreation department has an attitude of inclusion, asking ‘how can we’ instead of saying ‘no we can’t.’ This is how students learn to become inclusive of all abilities as young professionals.”

We hope everyone had a great Maymester! Way to rise to the challenge of taking summer classes! ☀️💪😎
"I love how JMU not only teaches the importance of every aspect of health from mental to physical, but they practice what they teach and offer an unbelievable variety of classes at UREC to encourage students to practice healthy habits. I can not thank my wonderful yoga and wellness instructors enough for their encouragement, support, and friendship. I strongly encourage all students to explore the programs offered and try at least one new thing at UREC because we are so fortunate to have these opportunities." - Madison Romine, Wellness Instructor, Class of 2019. #HumansOfUREC
Don’t forget to smile today. 😁
