Try putting God in the center of your life and see what happens.
.
Involve Him in your decisions and see what happens.
.
Give Him the first place in your heart and see what happens.
.
If you're hurting, have an addiction, are depressed or anxious, having trouble with your spouse or kids, struggling with health or money problems, turn to God and see what happens.
📖
"So do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For the pagans run after all these things and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. Seek first His kingdom and all these things will be given to you as well."
.
Matthew 6: 31 - 33
You're breaking down the weight of all my mountains.
Even when it feels like I'm surrounded, You never leave my side.
Nobody loves me like You love me, Jesus.
📖
"The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves.
He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.”
- Zephaniah 3:17
How many times have we said something we didn’t mean out of anger?
It’s like as soon as we get into that mindset, things we don’t mean (or things we DO mean, but worded terribly and awfully) seem to fly right out of our mouths.
.
How many times has this led to hurt feelings, damaged relationships, and awkward situations? In these situations, anger has won and we have lost.
Satan has won. We have lost.
.
We need to work on praying and forgiving, even if it’s the last thing we want to be doing (and oftentimes it is).
.
+ Pray for the person or situation that is upsetting you.
+ Pray for yourself, for patience and the ability to forgive.
+ Pray for kindness, compassion, grace, and mercy.
.
Your heart deserves better than to have feelings of anger and resentment living inside it.
.
"Never let the fire in your heart go out.
Keep it alive. Serve the Lord.
When you hope, be joyful.
When you suffer, be patient.
When you pray, be faithful. "
.
Romans 12: 11-12
"You are a child of God. That can never be threatened or taken from you. While everything around you and about you changes, this is the one thing about yourself that will stay constant.
.
If God says you are going to do something big, if He says that you are going to be successful in something then guess what—He gave you those dreams with the knowing that you WILL and CAN do it.
.
We begin to doubt ourselves and the power of God when we chose to put our faith in any of our other self-schemas. We start to lean on our own strengths, our personalities, or our own interests and find that our self-worth is shaky and unstable.
.
It’s only when you allow your identity to rest in who you are in God that fear leaves and that annoying inner self-critic finally closes its mouth." - Worship Together
.
"For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."
- Ephesians 2:10
We challenge you this week to take 10 minutes and spend that time with God.
.
When was the last time you truly spent time quality time with God?
Time that wasn’t interrupted by Facebook, a text message, a phone call, or some other random distraction?
.
It seems like whenever we sit down to pray or read the Bible all of a sudden our minds can’t focus on the task we’re trying to do. It’s hard to process what you’re reading when your mind is racing with thoughts about a million other things.
.
You could pray and listen to worship music, or read a passage in the Bible (if you’re not sure where to start, try the book of Proverbs).
.
Either way, try your best this week to give 10 minutes to God and let us know how it goes!
New sermon series - IN TRANSIT - begins this Sunday, September 2.
.
We will explore characters from the Bible who experienced seasons of transition—the “in-between” trials of life.
.
Job, Daniel, Abraham, Paul and the disciples all experienced times of frustration, pain, suffering, and difficult questions. We too experience these seasons of transition, and it’s vital that we rely on God when life gets tough.

We recently said goodbye to our worship leader Jeff Foss, his wife Harmony, and their kids (Jordan, Ashlyn, and Rhodes) and prayed for them as a church as they move to Tennessee.
.
The Foss family has been with Journey since the beginning and we've been so blessed by the time they spent with us!
.
Keep them in your prayers as they get settled in Tennessee, and pray for Tara Kays as she steps into the role of worship leader here at Journey the Church.
"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
.
And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock."
.
Matthew 7:24-27
We stuffed brand new backpacks full of school supplies for kids in need in the Camarillo area! We can't wait for these kids to kick off this next school year with all the things they need. Thanks to everyone who helped last night! 📓✏️
Pastor Jeff Rodriguez gave a powerful message this past Sunday about mentorship.
.
He reflects on his life after jail and discusses how obedience, sacrifice, and willingness can bring about change in your life.
