Tea Kadai / Shop style Vadai Sundal with Lemon tea.
Beach visit is incomplete without munching on mangai pattani sundal for every Chennaite. These days spiral potatoes, french fries, waffles and other western stuffs have taken over as street food which was a disappointing scene during my previous visit to the beach.One hified tea shop in our area makes this sundal, just replicated his recipe.

Sundal and vadai craving had hit us hard so decided to make these for our late evening snack cum dinner.

Soaked dried white peas were pressure cooked and added to onion, green chillies, tomatoes, spice mixture with more water to keep it runny.
Used leftover dal mixture to make these dal vadas / paruppu kunukku to be precise with onions and curry leaves. Made a thin chutney with coriander, mint, green chillies.

Topped the Sundal with vadai, green chutney, onions, green chillies, fresh coriander with a squeeze of lemon juice.

Sweet Karam Kaapi platter, made these for a friend who's moving to another state.

Mini Bonda - Had some leftover medhu vadai (urad dal) batter added finely chopped coconut slices, pepper corns and deep-fried into mini mysore bondas and served with plain sambar and peanut chutney.

For the milk peda, used off the half can of condensed milk lying, added some cardamom powder, milk powder, few saffron strands soaked in a tbsp milk mixed until they formed a dough and rolled into mini pedas.

Ended up our conversation with hot filter Kaapi.

Spicy tawa pulao was made with veggies, pav bhaji masala, chilli powder sautéed in butter and added to cooked rice.

Onion, ginger, garlic were sautéed to which pureed tomatoes, spices were added and simmered. Boiled soya wadi and green peas were added to the sabzi and finished with sprinkle of garam masala and fresh coriander.

Pressure cooked horsegram, tomatoes were pureed, thinned, bought to simmer with jeera, pepper powder and tadka with ghee for thr soup aka rasam.

Marinated Veggies and Cottage cheese were pan fried on grill pan.

Hard boiled eggs were sautéed with onions, green chillies, curry leaves jeera, pepper powder and salt.

Mixed Millet flour (store bought) were made into Chappathis and smeared with ghee (to keep them soft until lunch)

Pressure cooked Navratan dal, was added to sautéed onions, tomatoes, garlic in Jeera, Mustard Tadka with  drizzle of lemon juice at the end.

Made Buttermilk with chaas masala, fresh mint and coriander.

Foxtail Millet, Kadamba Sambar, Potato Double Beans Capsicum Curry.

Treat yourself breakfast, made my favorite Khichdi with generous coconut oil, ghee, veggies, cashews and roasted sooji also a spicy coconut chutney was made to go with it.

One Mango was lying in the refrigerator unnoticed, made a smoothie with almond milk, soaked handfull Poha, fresh fruits and dry fruits. This was post workout brekkie for @sareesht

Found some fresh beans (field beans, butter beans, soya beans) in the market last evening, so it had to be Kadamba Sambar (mixed veggies especially country ones with fresh beans) made with roasted coconut, chillies, coriander seeds mixture, mixed dal and tamarind water.

Made Foxtail millet and a spicy dry curry made with potato, butter beans and shimla mirch to go with Sambar for lunch.

Meal for one - Tomato Pulao, Egg Thokku / Curry, Raitha, Thai Iced tea.

It's a simple pulao made in pressure cooker by sautéing onions lots of tomatoes, spices, mint, coriander leaves with rice. Some fresh green peas is all missing in the pulao.

Egg Thokku to be precise, made this to go with rotis for dinner. Lots of finely chopped garlic, ginger with curry leaves, onions and tomatoes were made into thick gravy type and added to boiled eggs.

Thai Iced Tea is supposed to be brimming with ice cubes which is not my way, a mildly chilled one is all wat I needed. .

This morning was the most relaxed one in a while, made a simple breakfast and lunch with no plans ahead for the day (bestuu day)

Had some leftover Adai Batter added chopped onions and poured into appe pan and cooked until crispy and served with Kaara Chutney made by sauteing onions, tomatoes, red chillies and ground until smooth.

For lunch made a simple Mushroom Curry in browned onion paste, tomato puree, goan masala and cooked until it thickened to go with Phulkas.
