Things don’t always work out the way you plan. I’ve learned A LOT as a mom, but this one thing has made my life much easier — just ROLL with it.

I typically like to control what goes on in my life. Hence why I love working out & tracking my nutrition — it gives me control over my body/results. 
_________________________________________________

Unfortunately, when you have mini’s, you can’t control a heck of a lot. Yesterday I had nap time all planned out. I was to spend 20 min of quiet time outside in the sun, then I had a check-in phone call with a 1:1 Nutrition client, then I was going to get a workout in — only 35 minutes so I could shower before Miles woke up. This would take me about 2ish hours total & usually Miles naps for at least
2 hours at home. I was so proud of myself for actually setting a plan!

But Miles had different plans for his mama. 🤦🏻‍♀️🙄
He woke up after an hour & 15 minutes!! _________________________________________________

I immediately got frustrated and upset with him for waking up early. Then when I went in the room to get him he was whining and crying — unusual for him when he wakes up — and I could tell he was uncomfortable & upset (99.9% sure he’s getting more molars in). My feelings of frustration instantly turned to guilt because who am I to complain that I can’t workout when he’s obviously in pain & just wants to be loved & held.

Long story short, he eventually calmed down so I thought, hey let’s try having him play while I workout. Nooooooope. Wasn’t having it. We ended up going for a walk instead of the workout because that was the only thing that would make him happy. 
_________________________________________________

I figure I could have reacted one of two ways. I could have let it ruin my day and be cranky with him for messing with my plan OR I could roll with it, go for a longer walk at a faster pace and enjoy the extra time with him.

We don’t have to have it all figured out to move forward.

The biggest regret most people have is not doing something sooner. 
_________________________________________________

So take it from me, I’ve made a ton of mistakes in my coaching business over the past 4 years. I never actually felt fully “ready” to start my business, or to launch my DIY website, or to start new programs/services.

But I decided, finally, what was I waiting for??? I’d been waiting for that perfect moment but the truth is, that perfect moment didn’t exist.

It’ll never be the perfect time to start a business, start your fitness journey, or do whatever it is you’ve been waiting to do.

The indulge-guilt-restrict cycle used to be a regular habit for me. I’d go out on the weekends, drink too much, eat in excess, wake up feeling like death was approaching & then eat nothing all day until I could finally stomach food, which was always greasy & had zero nutritional value.

I’d then feel puffy & bloated, my skin rebelled and broke out, and I’d feel super guilty about losing control. So what did I do? I restricted calories & food and did extra workouts for punishment to make myself feel better.

Fast forward a few years & part of this cycle is broken — okay, I still have a few too many drinks sometimes but not as often or as extreme. Let’s be honest, I’m a mom & my alcohol tolerance is low AF. 🤣🤣

I still indulge from time to time. I drink more than I should & I eat more than I should. The feelings of guilt are still there occasionally, but they are much less. It’s taken time, but I’ve trained my mind to realize it’s OK to indulge. One bad day or weekend won’t ruin all of my progress. Sure, I might wake up feeling fluffy and bloated but it’s not permanent.

Rather than restricting & working out to “makeup” for the damage I did I just go on with my life. I don’t have time for double workouts nor do I have he energy some days — hello, 5am wake up calls, 10+ hour work days & a toddler to chase and entertain. 🤣
_________________________________________________

I accept what I did and recognize that I made a CHOICE. We always have a choice. I tell myself it’s okay (literally, I say it out loud in front of the mirror) and that extra fluff, bloating & weight doesn’t change who I am as a person or doesn’t change how much Miles & Jesse love me.

Too many times I'm guilty of nitpicking my body, wishing it didn't look so different. But the truth is, my body went through SO much.

It stretched, it grew a human, it birthed & fed & LOVES that human.

Too often I take my body for granted.

Mamas, you're perfect just the way you are. My hope is that you love your body as much as you love the human that it created.

But, if you want to change it, that's OK too. It's not selfish to want to lose weight or to want to feel confident in your new skin. That's being human.

Pancakes, wine, ice cream, avocado, chicken, veggies, steak, dark chocolate, potatoes... just a few things I ate today to give me #abs

I don’t believe in eating clean. 
There’s no definitive way to classify what it means. 
_______________________________________________

To some it’s eating no sugar, or cutting out simple carbs, or eating only unprocessed foods, or no dairy/meat, only plant based, etc. 
_______________________________________________

There are no good & bad foods. Only foods that are more nutrient dense than others, meaning they have more micronutrients (vitamins & minerals). _______________________________________________

Distinguishing foods as good or bad or clean or dirty creates an unhealthy relationship with food. By avoiding or restricting “unhealthy” foods we just want them more. We eventually give in, go way overboard and then feel guilty, throwing in the towel thinking we are failures and will never reach our goals so why even try.
_______________________________________________

There’s no reason why we can’t eat the foods we love & still look good if we just moderate the amounts in which we consume them. 
_______________________________________________

So, I CHALLENGE you. Stop calling foods healthy or unhealthy, stop classifying foods as clean or dirty and just see food as food. It’s nourishment & fuel to help our bodies grow, thrive & survive. Try this & see how it affects your relationship with food. •

You can’t pour from an empty cup. Take care of yourself first.
_________________________________________________ ^^This is something I  s t r u g g l e  with, Taking care of me. I am incredibly passionate about pouring into others but often forget that I need to fill my cup as well. I go Big & I work hard but then end up crashing and burning out. 
_________________________________________________

I’m learning how to fill my cup by trying different things. Diving into personal development, spending unplugged time with my family, going for walks (now that the weather is finally nice), just to name a few. 
_________________________________________________

I’m still working on mastering my schedule, prioritizing, and finding “quiet time”. My mind is always going & my thoughts are always racing, so to truly relax & unwind I need to find a way to clear my mind.
