Life is messy, so is motherhood. I want to make it a point to share more of the “messy” stuff.

Lately, I’ve felt that if I’m not somewhat put together I can’t post on social media or if I don’t have motivational things to share then I’m not sharing at all.

So going forward, I want to challenge myself to share more of everything. The good, the great, the messy & the down right difficult.

I just kept thinking that the next thing was going to be the game changer. But it never was.

So how did I overcome the overwhelm? >>I stopped following every “fit” person on social media for inspiration & only followed people who added value to my life
>>I educated myself & hired a coach to help me learn what MY body needed
>>I picked just one thing to focus on and when I got really confident in it, I added another thing.

I went out to eat & have no idea how much I just ate.....

This was so me this morning. In the past I would have just thought of the whole day as a loss & probably way over did it.... eating candy for snacks and too much wine 🍷 & ice cream 🍦 after dinner. 
_________________________________________________

But instead, because I’ve created new habits, I was able to approach the day in a different perspective.
_________________________________________________

I basically just really roughly estimated the calories of my meal. I guessed roughly 700 calories for that meal and probably more carbs & fat and less protein (as most meals out are).
_________________________________________________

Keeping that in mind, I tracked the rest of my meals today & simply focused on getting more protein than carbs/fat and stayed within my calories using the estimated 700 for my breakfast.
_________________________________________________

This wasn’t perfect. But This helped me make better choices all day & prevent throwing in the towel because of one “off” meal. 
_________________________________________________ & that “off” meal was so worth it!

I used to think I was ‘too busy’ to do all the things I needed to do. When one area of my life what thriving, another was falling apart. Sound familiar?

It took falling into a dark place where I actually thought about closing up shop with my coaching business for me to realize that I needed to make some changes. I hate to break it to you but no one can do anything for you. You are the only person that can make a change. You can want it so badly, but nothing will happen if you don’t put forth the effort.

So, ask yourself. Are you truly doing everything you can to accomplish your goals?

Or are you telling yourself lies and making up excuses like I was?

I’m calling bullshit.

We are not too busy. We are lazy busy. We procrastinate, we waste our time doing other things that aren’t as important. I get it, it’s easy to stay the way we are. It’s comfortable, it’s familiar. When we attempt to make changes we realize it’s hard and then make excuses as to why we can’t do it.

So next time you say “I’m too busy” stop and think about it for a second. Are you really that busy? Or is it just not a priority?

I think it’s super important to have flexibility in your diet & find ways to make balanced eating fit into your life (not the other way around). _________________________________________________

As a mom I NEED that glass of wine, or 3, to unwind from the week of toddler tantrums. Having flexibility doesn’t ruin my progress OR make me fall off my plan. If anything, it helps me STAY ON PLAN because I make room for fun.

I used to think this ALL the time. I would tell myself that if I was “good” all week that I could splurge on the weekend. I’d end up indulging to my hearts content and then feeling uber guilty about it afterwards! This would lead me to be super strict the next week to “make up” for the previous weekend. And the cycle continued.

It wasn’t until I started tracking my food and accounting for the treats I had that I was able to kick the food guilt. I learned what my body needed, how my body used the food I ate for FUEL and gave myself boundaries when it came to treats and splurges. I actually started having treats daily (not just on the weekends), was seeing better results (losing weight), AND feeling better about my choices (aka NO MORE GUILT). _________________________________________________

This is why I am such an advocate for food tracking and why I think it’s something that everyone should do at some point or another. Not only does it help us reach our goals, but it helps us understand what and how much food we need to eat as well as heal our unhealthy relationships with food.

WHERE DID THIS COME FROM?!

Carbs are ESSENTIAL for our bodies to function properly. They are literally our primary energy source. Now, sure, you might want to be careful about the TYPES & AMOUNTS of carbs you're consuming, but this is where tracking macros comes in Reeeeeal handy.

You don't have to be afraid of carbs. They won't make you fat. Eating in a caloric surplus will make you fat. Yo-yoing with your diet, restricting yourself and then overeating shortly after will make you fat.

But carbs, my friends, will not.

Almost every single one of my clients I've worked with over the past 4 years have increased their carb intake when we started working together and they LOST weight.

With all the goodies and treats floating around it can be really tough to stick to your goals. So, here are some tips to help you feeling good about your Halloween experience:
_________________________________________________ >>Get candy you don’t like, or at least don’t buy your favorite kind and only buy the candy you need, not extras to keep afterwards. >>Keep said candy out of eyesight until it’s needed. So don’t sit on the couch with it waiting for trick-or-treaters to arrive. >>Have a plan for leftover candy. Give it to the last trick-or-treater, donate it to your local dentist office, bring it to work. >>Eat a filling meal prior to trick-or-treating. Don’t go out/pass out candy hungry. >>Set a candy limit! Enjoy a few pieces and then tell yourself you’re done. Go brush your teeth, chew gum, drink water, keep yourself busy doing something else. >>Get a workout in!
