We're receiving great applications to become a volunteer DJ at the station. Check out these answers. And if you're interested in becoming a volunteer or DJ come to our orientation Wednesday January 23rd at 6pm!
Our friends from Mississippi Records are coming to Marfa! Join us on Tuesday for an extravaganza that will include records, DJ'ing, and a brief history of music from the Big Bang to the present. Event starts at the Crowley Theatre and then heads over to Xmas Bar for more fun!
We post the front of our station a lot, but check out this beautiful piece of art on the side of our building. Mural by @el_federico

Sneak peek: on the left is our old transmitter. After multiple lightning strikes and power outages, it wasn't reaching full power. This presented quite a few challenges. On the right is our brand new transmitter! We are now at full power and hope for far fewer outages in the coming year.

Big thanks to all of our supporters, near and far. Your donations made this new transmitter possible! .

New transmitter, day 3! The engineering team were met with some challenges while attempting to install yesterday. They're headed back up the mountain today. We'll make an announcement when we are ready to go off air for install. You can still listen online. Link in bio.

ICYMI: The Big Bend region hasn’t had hospice services since the late 90s. And without assisted living facilities, many seniors have to leave home to seek healthcare as they get older. For West Texas Wonders, we followed the story of one woman fighting to spend her final years in Marfa. Link in bio. 📸 courtesy of Marvie Burton. #westtexaswonders
Station milestone alert: KRTS is getting a brand new transmitter! Long time listeners know that stormy weather and power outages periodically knock 93.5 Marfa off the airwaves. Some of these off-air moments are unavoidable — put a 300 foot radio tower on top of a 7,200 foot mountain in West Texas, and you get lightning strikes, high wind, and equipment failure.

Here's to fewer off-air moments in 2019. 🍾 We will be off air Friday, 1/4, during the install, but you can still listen online. 📸: Ian Lewis
