Explored the Cameron highlands today! Woke up early to go to the mossy forrest, tea plantation & tea factory where I had a tea from the plantation with a view of the plantation!πŸ˜‰ after that I hiked up a mountain, went downhill on the other side but there was nothing to do there and the way back to the city was pretty far. However, in korea I learned some hitchhiking skills which I used for today as well, first car stopped and instead of walking 1.5 hours, I sat in a car for a few minutes!πŸ‘ today really night at night (or tomorrow really early in the morningπŸ˜ͺ), I will be arriving in Singapore πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡¬
The best thing about solo travelling is that it puts you into a position where you need to get out of your comfort zone. And getting out of this zone can lead to beautiful things. Almost all of us were travelling solo through Malaysia and in one way or another we all crossed paths in Penang where we started exploring as a group. Due to these amazing people, I decided not to go to Cameron highlands early but to go to Langkawi with them! This was the best choice that I could make since I had 2.5 days of fun with this group on Langkawi. We rented scooters to explore the island and the small roads through local villages, farm grounds during sunset with hills in the background and kids waving at us enthusiastically while driving by. We had so many laughs, saw beautiful nature, relaxed on the beach and played a lot of games β›°πŸ˜ŠπŸ›΅πŸ–πŸŒžβ™ οΈπŸŠβ€β™‚οΈ
In the meantime, I took a ferry to Langkawi this morning and am relaxing on the beach while I am writing this. George town was my first stop in Malaysia and it was amazing! Met a great group of people there with whom I did a 70km tour around the island with scooters, had great dinners with and went out every night! That is also the main reason that I went to Langkawi to hang out a bit more with the great people that I met. George town itself has a great mix of culture from different parts of the world: europe, India, Arabic countries and South East Asia. Also the food is amazing! And the street art will blow you away. Loved this town, let's explore more of Malaysia :)
Some other pictures of Cambodia including Siem Reap and the national park that we visited :)
The other temples in the Angkor complex were just as amazing with less tourists!
Angkor wat & bayon! Such an amazing place to explore. Really feels like you are in an tomb raider or Indiana Jones movie. Best part of it is that you can go anywhere you want!
Chiang mai, our last stop, you were great. We thought the city was a tiny bit overhyped but there is so much to do in the surrounding areas. And although, we thought that the city itself was a bit overhyped, we had so much fun and found a lot of nice places to eat and drink and great night markets! It was lovely to zipline through the jungle, going to the elephant nature park, climbing the sticky waterfalls and sightseeing the city. Now back in Bangkok for the last day before @merelfeskens goes back homeπŸ™β˜Ή
Meanwhile we are in Chiang Mai but here are some pictures of amazing Koh Phangan. I loved this island, rented a motor bike, ate a lot of great vegan food, partyed at the full moon party during new years eve, climed waterfalls and went to a lot of beaches and amazing bars. The island blew all my expectations and is so much more than just the full moon party, an amazing chilled out hippie island which was just the right fit🌞😍
Met someone with a drone today on the Amsterdam Bar in Koh Phangan. Amazing first day on this relaxing, beautiful, hippie & vegan friendly island 😍🌞🌴 together with @merelfeskens
Some impressions of the great city of bangkok! Riding a bike through bangkok βœ” riding a long tail boat through the canels βœ” driving with a tuk tuk βœ” drinking a beer on koh san road βœ” seeing all the temples βœ”.
