Ayurveda and Wound Healing - Magic!
.
Wound healing a a big problem in the West. If antibiotics, T-bact, zinc or steroidal cream do the trick - it’s only superficial. But often, they don’t even!
.
Ayurveda has exclusive books with tremendous details on wound healing, especially the non healing ones! More than 60 procedures and hundreds of different formulations and modifications for each type of wound. This includes keloids, shingles, MRSA and even simple staph. .
If you know anyone who is struggling with non healing wounds, I would ask you to try Ayurveda. But make sure you find a practitioner who has perused the original texts. The details were written for a reason!
.
Everyday, I continue to be more and more amazed at the scope of Ayurveda. I am in love 💕!

Fun Fact - Ayurvedic texts advocate the use of leeches for many Rakta disorders (roughly be equated to blood related issues).
.
Disclaimer - Do not try this at home or in the jungle or in your garden!
.
What do these little blood suckers do?
- They have the skill-full ability of drinking just the impure part of your blood. (Jakauka Avcharan) Leeches work especially well for those who have acne, inflammation that causes pain, injuries and anything where Mr Hot Blood gets involved!
.
Do not diagnose yourself but if you feel like this may be for you, contact a leech center close to where you live. That’s right - even Ancient Asian medicine discovered how these lumpy creatures could be used and there are centers all around the US. .
Well! That’s that for today. Now back to my busy Ayurvedic life!

I feel like I am having an Out of Body experience. Let me explain.
.
I was born in India. I was born in an Ayurvedic family. But it’s only now that I realize that I have not even scratched the surface of what life has to offer. Especially, India and Ayurveda. It’s like I am shedding old skin for new realities to emerge. .
I’ve spent about 20 life changing days (half of my time planned here) with the Ayurvedic non English speaking community in Pune. These Vaidyas are scientists par excellence. If I could, I would give most of them a Nobel Prize! The reason their genius stays under wraps is that most of their literature and communication is in Marathi, the local language of their city! Also, they are humble and pious, seeking to make a big difference to the small number of people around them. Chasing wellness but not fame
.
I’ve also realized that even though there are small areas I have mastered like Ayurvedic food and digestion related diseases, I have a long way to go. The Ayurvedic shashtras are vast and to get a thorough understanding is the task of a lifetime. In my opinion, not even Deepak chopra is there yet!
.
It shocks and saddens me that six month courses are being offered for a science that takes a lifetime to learn. You can only get a whiff of Ayurveda in that much time. Also, anything available online today is only an incomplete foreword to Ayurveda.
.
If you are truly interested in Ayurveda, I urge you to dig deeper. Ask more questions. There is no question about life or death that Ayurveda can’t answer.
.
I am happy to answer questions when I can and do some homework and research when I can’t. But I want the real science to come out!

Before you judge me - READ!!!
.
This cigarette has nothing to do with tobacco or addiction. It’s purely herbal! I’ve never smoked in my life!
.
Ayurvedic Dhumapan - or smoking herbs according to your needs is a an important part of Dinacharya (Daily Regimen). Bathing aggravates Kapha and Vata..the fluids in your body cool and Vata goes helter skelter. Dhumpan or Ayurvedic smoking is like an internal Agarbatti (incense stick).
.
However, like everything else - you must be very careful while choosing your herbs. Dhumapan can Dry you a little bit and therefore is a good treatment for Kapha. Ajwain and pippali can be safely used.
.
I don’t do Dhumapan everyday, as my body is already on the drier side. (And how would I explain the act to my kids! 🤨)
.
Pittas or the fiery ones- don’t even think about it!
.
Now go Judge!

Cherimoya - or Custard Apple - or a Ball of Kapha. .
These yummy fruits possess the same exact qualities as Kapha - Guru, Madhur, snigdha, sheeta. (Heavy, Sweet, Slimy and Cooling)
.
What does this mean to the non Ayurvedic population? Cherimoyas enter your body and add to yumminess, heaviness, weight, fluid, phlegm, and nourishment. If you have the Agni(digestive fire) they may even nourish your synovial fluid. .
However, if You wake up congested and have phlegm stuck in places..this is a No-No for you. Nor is it for you if you’re sluggish and Lullish! .
Prevention - indulge in the daytime. Between 10-2PM.
Antidote - follow up with herbal tea. .
For me, I am absolutely in love with these. Second only to Mangoes! 💕
.
Kaphas - Beware
Pittas - Indulge
Vatas - Stoke the fire and eat a little!
.

Lovingly and painstakingly , we’ve spent six days making this great formulation Of Mahatikta Ghruta. Nursing this day after day, infusing all our energies to make this Pitta-Rakta elixir.
.
Infusing energies - or Putting Bhavana (intent) in everything you do is a huge part of Ayurveda. There is great emphasis in working with a Vaidya who understands his herbs, has touched them and worked with them and sprinkled them with some healing.
.
Infact it goes at as far as to say that while plucking a herb, you must take permission of the live plant and make a request for it to sacrifice its life to heal another being.
.
The reason I mention this is because our shashtras always knew that the universe has its own vibrational language. Before we surrender ourselves to a treatment, herb or healing - we must infuse it with our positivity and gratitude.
.
🙏🏼 for the opportunity of a lifetime to learn Ayurveda from The few authentic vaidyas left on this planet!

Amalaki berries or Amla are really a Vaidya’s (Ayurvedic Practitioners toy). They are super Pathya (good for everyone) and can be given for a multitude of ailments to all age groups.
.
Amalaki is also known as Dhatri or mother. It can be as nourishing as a mother. We are advised to prescribe Amla blindly to those who had a hard childhood or were separated from their mother!
.
Not only that, Amla is Vayasthapan (keeps you younger baby!) and Tri-dosha-har. (Acts on all the three doshas). So go get yourself some. But not without reading how!
.
Vatas - all the Dry or Gassy humans - Do not consume your Amla raw or even as a powder. It will dry you out only more. Salted or gingered Amla will do it for you. .
Pittas - The hot ones (or the ones who get red rash, heartburn or a hot stomach) - you need to have your Amla as a jam or candy. Amla juice can be tolerated as well. But Salted will heat you more. .
Kaphas - (“phlegm and/or weight” love me types) your Amla only as powder or worst case, juice. .
So that a quick Amla recap. I use Amla candy as our power-loaded Vitamin C supplement daily and so far we’ve survived the winter untainted. 🤞 .
What more, Amla is Kesya (works hard to keep that mane heathy and dark)

The Recipe - My favorite Teppanyaki rice. With pictures!
.
Heat a cast iron skillet and sprinkle some sesame oil on it.
.
Spread a bed of cooked sticky rice and some minced garlic.
.
Throw in some peppers, yellow squash, onions and scallions. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Do not mix!
.
Throw in some salt. And Mix. Make sure the bottom of the rice is crispy!
.
Make a paste of soy, gochuchang sauce and your favorite hot sauce.
.
Take the rice off the skillet and into a bowl and mix the paste! You can even add pickled pink ginger strands for an extra punch!
.
Inhale. Salivate. Taste. Devour.
.
Vatas - very very good for you!
Pittas - Easy on the soy, sesame and hot sauce
Kaphas - Easy on the quantity and generous on the pickled ginger.

The Daily Checkup! - Tune into your health every single day and learn where it’s headed. Before an ailment or a miracle can manifest - you have the power to know the subtle changes your body is going through - and change its course if you’d like.
.
1. Tongue 👅 - How does it look each morning? Does it have a white coating? Is it very red or bumpy. And more importantly how does it compare from day to day. You don’t need to be an expert but as you observe the changes on your tongue and how they correspond to changes in your food, you’ll begin to learn what makes it happy!
.
2. Elimination 💩- You can tell what lives inside your body by examining what comes out of it. So be brave, and examine your poop every day. What time did you go? Did Italian food make it tight and delayed or did Chinese food cause an explosion. Or perhaps that “so good for you broccoli” created a windstorm? Everyday analysis to know what works for you! .
3. Sleep 💤- Yes, it’s true that certain foods and exercise regimens make you sleep better depending on your body. When you make a drastic change to your food or lifestyle - observe what they do to your sleep patterns. If they keep you tossing, I would suggest you toss the change.
.
4. Weight - Now, I don’t believe in the skinny marathon. But I do believe that you should weigh yourself every single day. To know what that bag of chips did to you, or whether three times cardio was too much, or how much does that water weight weigh right before your period. And did that Halloween candy really stick?
.
I believe that these four markers are the best way to spy on your body. Trick it before it tricks you!

Who knew that a kick in the back would open your husbands heart! (And I’ve been trying to find the way to his heart for 14 years! Phew!) .
Well, jokes apart. This heart opener is making space in the right places and I highly recommend it. Get someone you love to lodge their foot right in your center upper- back while you roll your shoulders back and down and Open your chest. .
This is a great opener for your heart chakra (Anahata chakra) and is usually where your backbends in yoga come from. Like me, most people have been back-bending using their lower or mid-back. No wonder all the Yoga injuries!

Picture Repost from @abha_bhanshali_shah!
.
When I count my blessings, having three mothers is on the top of my list. I can’t call them aunts, cos they are even more than mothers.
.
Five of us were so lucky to be raised by these three incredible women. Who give, laugh, lighten and brighten. Without long sermons and pushy advice, they teach by just being.
.
We were five girls born within a period of 4 years and raised together in one room. We learned to love and cooperate with each other unconditionally, as we were never compared and each one was appreciated for our own uniqueness. .
These women were our cushions of comfort (as you can clearly tell in the picture) as well as our banyan trees providing us unlimited shade! So so blessed.
