The Ayurvedic protocol for a broken arm is genius! Here is the whole deal!

This monkey broke her arm last night swinging on the monkey bar  trying to skip three bars! (What’s childhood without a little bit of adventure)
💪 
Ayurvedic protocol - As soon as I saw the literally Distorted arm, I poured warm sesame oil on the area. (Save this post - hopefully you wont need it but if you do, it’s magic)
💪
Then I applied Dashang Lepa (herbal paste) on the area and gave her two triphala guggul tablets!
💪 
We go to the ER and they are a bit annoyed about the herbal paste (it’s quite smelly btw) but they say - ITS NOT S FRACTURE - AS THERE IS NO SWELLING!
💪 
But the X-RAY declared that there was a fracture indeed - and a BIG ONE TOO! The Ayurvedic protocol kept the swelling and pain to the minimum. Baby got a cast and will be taking tripahala guggul tablets (1 tablet twice a day) for the next week. Along with warm milk and turmeric!
💪 
It works and how! You can call it luck or placebo - I call it Ayurveda! 💕
💪 (And ofocurse the doctors wanted to give her I V anesthetic to manipulate the bone  but we managed completely without anasthesia - no tears or screams - proud of my baby girl) 💪

Keep away that breakfast from me - you guys!

In my Ayurvedic world - breakfast is not the biggest meal of the day. Unless you’re working on a farm or climbing a mountain. But for our desk hugging generation - here is some truth! 🌿 
Our body works in unison with the happenings of the universe. The morning is cool and dewy. So are our bodies - wet and cool - proof is the eye boogers or morning congestion some of us experience.
🌿 
Our digestive engine is just ramping up for the day. Not fully ready yet! So this is the ayurvedic prescription from 5000 years ago. Exercise and eat something warm. Preferable hot spiced milk with something that’s not savory. Porridge is a great idea if you really need something solid.
🌿 
But fruits (wet and cold) early in the morning in a wet and cold body are completely contraindicated. 🌿 
But come lunch time, the sun is shining - the plants are so photosynthesizing! Our bodies are ready for that big meal! Makes sense?

Was that completely over the top? 🌿

Kids will test their limits when they are older. It’s a part of evolution. I would rather them have some judgement when they do it. It’s the ones who have never crossed boundaries that invite most trouble because when they seek to finally explore, they possess no discretion.

So we’ve been climbing hills, petting sheep, going safely close to waterfalls, talking to strangers, wearing goofy clothes and living our lives in Iceland!!

My love for soups comes from the fact that vegetables should be eaten cooked, not raw. Yes, you heard that right!

Human genes evolved rapidly and exponentially since the discovery of fire a billion years ago. We saved our bellies a lot of work. Uncooked veggies require a lot of heat from our gut to be processed! For the nutrients and waste to be disintegrated. I am not saying that overcook and pressure cook your food but just bring it to a state where your gut has gotten a head start and not drained!

Fun Food for thought?

Imagine the five elements -

Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, Ether 🔸Can you tell that a banana has more earth than orange juice?
🔸And that lentils have more earth than a banana?
🔸And that anything solid has more earth in it than other elements?
🔸And that our bones and muscles are more solid than softer organs so they have more earth?
🔸And is this why lentils and bananas are good to build bones and muscles?

Ayurveda is the sister science of Yoga and they are both incomplete without each other. Yoga asanas work on strengthening the body and sealing energy centers to preserve flow of prana internally while Ayurveda works on nourishing the body with food, herbs and lifestyle. It is really the science of living. Together, they enable you to strengthen your body, mind and soul like nothing else can.

Meet Nidhi Pandya! She will be teaching about the 5 Elements of Ayurveda on Sunday June 23rd! “Unlock the code to the Universe”

Nidhi was raised in Mumbai by her grandfather who was an Ayurvedic Healer, and the principles of Ayurveda are deeply etched in her psyche. They have become an intuitive and natural part of her lifestyle.

She started studying the Eastern Shashtras or texts at a young age and has continued to study Ayurveda formally from the ancient texts of Carak Samhita, Ashtang Hrudayam and Sushrut Samhita. Having developed a deep understanding of the authentic principles, she seeks to apply them to our modern day lifestyle, food and diseases.

Nidhi currently practices as an Ayurvedic Coach in Mumbai, New York and New Jersey. She also writes for the Ayurveda and Health Tourism Magazine, the number one Ayurveda magazine for India. She wrote the cover story for the March 2019 Issue. She also conducts Ayurveda workshops around the world. She recently held workshops in Mumbai, New York,  and New Jersey.
