Stories of rehabilitation and hope from the employees at the NCDA’s Community Partnership Program.
.
CPP is a community-based resource and referral office that provides social services to the general community but focuses on the re-entry population, young people at risk of or involved with gangs and other justice-involved individuals.
.
Here’s Andrea Johnson- in her own words.

✔️Because staying on top of current legal issues is of utmost priority at the NCDA, in addition to CLE (Continuing Legal Education) courses, we are now training our ADAs in the basics of firearms: how they operate, how ammo works and how the weapons relate to their work in prosecuting cases.
.
✔️This week our prosecutors got an up-close look at about 30 weapons brought in by the NCDA’s Investigative team. .
✔️From handguns to long guns, they also learned about evidentiary issues and how bullets mark cartridges when the weapon is fired. .

The NCDA’s Community Partnership Program is changing lives.
.
Watch this video to find out how!
.
We know that when we address the issues that bring people into the criminal justice system – whether it is addiction, poverty, mental health or other challenges – and provide them with the assistance they need - they are less likely to re-offend.
.
At the Community Partnership Program, we have assembled a talented staff with credentials in healthcare, social services, education and leadership to help justice-involved individuals out of the system and into successful lives.
.
This unique resource center provides social services in English and Spanish to the general community, the re-entry population and other justice-involved individuals.
.
The staff members all have their own personal experiences with incarceration, gang involvement, substance use, and other issues that many of the community members we work with experience first-hand on a daily basis.
.
They are credible messengers who can use their own personal experiences to connect with and inspire people going through similar experiences, especially at-risk young people.
.
So who better to explain what CPP is all about.
.
Here they are – in their own words.
.
Thank you to @patvlongisland and @ericapatv for the production assistance!
.
We’ll be posting a new video every week - so stay tuned!

Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for an important Memorial Day observance to honor those who have served our country, and most importantly, those who made the ultimate sacrifice defending our freedom and the values we share. The service featured special guest remarks from Hon. Arthur D. Spatt, Senior Judge, United States District Court, Eastern District of New York and tributes to D-Day and Tuskegee Veterans and Gold Star Mothers.
.
“The men and women who served and who sacrificed, and their families, are owed our deepest gratitude. But President Kennedy reminded us, that "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter the words, but to live by them." And that is the challenge for us all: to show our gratitude in the work we do in this building pursuing justice, and in our everyday lives in our communities.” - DA Singas

Today, DA Singas announced the arrest of a couple from Mineola for allegedly killing two puppies and nearly killing a third in less than three weeks.
.
“Three healthy puppies suffered horrific injuries while they were under the care and control of these defendants,” DA Singas said. “Sadly, these animals can’t testify about the unconscionable suffering that they endured, but their blunt force and neck trauma injuries tell a gruesome story, and we are committed to seeking justice on their behalf. This is an ongoing investigation and we encourage anyone who may information about these dogs or their injuries to contact our Animal Crimes Unit at 516-571-7755.” .
