Following on from our engagement with the @unitednations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women last month, the Committee has now published its List of issues in relation to its examination of the UK. The Committee has highlighted several issues specific to women in Northern Ireland, and has asked the UK Government to answer questions on these areas of concern.

Last week, our Chief Commissioner met with the new Lord Mayor of Belfast, Councillor Deirdre Hargey. They discussed the UK Withdrawal from the EU as well as the Mayor's plans for the year ahead.
Today is the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.

We recall Article 5 of the #UDHR: 'No one shall be subjected to torture or to cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.'
Today we welcomed the #UN Special Rapporteur on the Right to Privacy, Prof. Joseph Cannataci, back to Belfast. He met with our Chief Commissioner to discuss safeguarding the right to privacy in the UK and how to ensure human rights protections after the UK withdraws from the EU.
