As-salฤmu สฟalaykum (peace be upon you)
Today we're featuring the talented Sukaina from @iman.home
She masters the art of Arabic calligraphy and you'll surely be mesmerised after this post ๐Ÿ˜ Lets know more about our guest today:
1. Tell us a little about yourself and your art journey.
My name is Sukaina, and I'm currently studying Deaf and Hard of Hearing Education. I've been exploring Islamic art for two years now- through books and online resources.
2. How and when did you start?
My older brother introduced me to Islamic geometry four years ago. I picked it up as a hobby about a year later.
3. From where do you draw your inspiration?
I draw my inspiration from the many talented traditional artists out there, and ofcourse, from the beauty of God's creation.
4. How do you continue to be creative?
We get really creative custom orders that help us go beyond our comfort zone, alhamdulillah.
5. How would you describe your style?
I've only been doing this for a short time, so I'm still trying to find it.
6. What are the must have tools?
Scroll-saw and wood! We do all of our wooden pieces by hand- no laser machines are used. Compass, ruler and pencil for geometry. Paint and thin paintbrushes.
7. Whatโ€™s your favorite technique?
Too early to tell.
8.What is your favorite medium to work with?
Wood. We love how natural it is, and how perfectly it goes with verses from the Qur'an and ahadith.
9. What is the one skill that you wish to excel in?
I wish I could excel in Islamic Illumination (tezhip/tezhib/tedhib)- it's so intricate and beauuutiful.
10. What makes you smile?
Spending quality time with my sisters in Islam.
11. Are there any artists that you look up to?
I look up to several students and teachers from @schooloftraditionalarts in London. Their dedication and zeal towards traditional Islamic art is inspiring.
12. If you were not an artist, what would you be?
I would be an artist!
13.What will be your one suggestion to all the new crafters out there?
Practice.
Thank you Sukaina for the interesting interview. Now ladies, I'd really appreciate it if you visit @iman.home and leave them some love โคโค Great day everyone!

Hellllooooo beautifuls! We're back again with Feature Friday after quite a long time!! Today we got you a young talent from the United Arab Emirates.. Let's welcome Amna from @wildflower_calligraphy ๐Ÿ˜Šโœ’
1. Tell us a little about yourself and your art journey.
Iโ€™m a self-taught calligrapher and a graphic designer student. Iโ€™m 21 years old from UAE. I always had a thing for art and how every person is unique in their own way.

2. How and when did you start?
Started my journey in July 2017. Began with brush lettering, and wanted to learn more techniques and methods so i tried out the pointed pen and love how i improved by time.

3. From where do you draw your inspiration?
Instagram is filled with inspiring accounts! I always look try to mimic the style of the lettering or the picture layout, but now I have my own style that Iโ€™m really proud of.

4. How would you describe your style?
Calligraphy has a bunch of different styles, i think mine is bit more on the modern side.

5. What are the must have tools?
Can't live with out my Zebra G nib and walnut ink!

6. Whatโ€™s your favorite technique?
I can say that i love both, brush pen and pointed
but the pointed pen gives a much fancier look, more classy! Love to incorporate watercolor to my designs, fine tech are my absolute favorite.

7. What is the one skill that you wish to excel in?
Want to letter without having to draw a pencil line, hehe.

8. What makes you smile?
Love it when people comment on my artwork, really keeps me going.

9.What is your favorite thing to do other than this?
Didn't mention earlier, but i am a self-taught pianist as well!

10. Are there any artists that you look up to?
Love how creative @jennifermcguireink is!

11. If you were not an artist what would you be?
A professional pianist.

12. What will be your one suggestion to all the new artists out there?
Never give up on something you love, sure everything is hard at first, everything will work out at the end. And yes, practice makes perfect!

Isn't her calligraphy stunning and the finishing touches so exceptional ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜ Thank you dear for sharing with us!! Now ladies check @wildflower_calligraphy for more oohs and aahs! Great weekend ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜™
