Christy Clarke’s kindergarten class wishes @sportingkc good luck in the team’s home opener and the rest of the season. #GoodLuckSportingKC #IBelieveThatWeWillWin
Our lunch staff adapts our menus after snow days to reduce food waste while creating healthy and flavor-filled meals for our students. On Wornall Campus, the first entree choice becomes turkey pot pie loaded with vegetables, and yesterday's second entree, broccoli and butternut frittata, will be prepared fresh for today. Other selections choices include the salad bar, hummus and yogurt. Thank you to Flik Independent School Dining for keeping us well-fed! #FlikISD #SchoolLunch #IndepdentSchools #PHRaiderNation
Upper school students hosted AFS exchange students for the annual short stay last week. In addition to shadowing at Pembroke Hill, students went ice skating, stopped by Winstead's for skyscrapers and enjoyed pizza and potluck dinners together. Thank you to all of our host families!
We hope you are spending the day celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
A team of upper school students returned over the weekend from their Jan Term trip to Vietnam where they studied ways to improve rural health. While there, they made bio-sand filters and exchanged gifts with local school children in the Than Uyên district.
There's been plenty of tail-wagging at Wayside Waifs this week, as PHS student volunteers have been showering the animals with love and exercise during Jan Term.
Thespians in the upper school theater lab class have a great show planned for tonight as they present a student-produced absurdist sketch comedy show, Oh, Boy. The curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m., in Centennial Hall Theatre. Tickets are $5 and will be available at the door.
Pembroke Hill students wrote a song to honor upper school performing arts chair and choral music teacher Joel Diffendaffer who passed away in August. They debuted "Make A DIFFerence" at the annual BRAVOS concert last month and performed it for upper school students at an assembly this morning.⠀

Congratulations to the upper school Science Olympiad team for taking first place at the O-Town Throwdown Invitational Saturday, Nov. 17, at Olathe North High School.
Missouri Football Coaches Association named middle school math teacher and assistant varsity football coach Scott Guthrie as the coach of the MFCA Hands Team. The team recognizes Missouri high school student-athletes and a coach who make outstanding contributions in the areas of volunteerism and civic involvement. Scott volunteers his Saturday mornings at Children's Mercy Pediatric Cancer Center to offer respite to parents of sick children. He possesses a unique ability to develop trusted bonds with the children and give needed opportunities of rest to their parents. He will be honored at the MFCA's Hall of Fame Banquet on Friday, Dec. 7. Congratulations, Scott!
A big thank you to our fabulous facilities team that has been working tirelessly for the past several days to clear our sidewalks, steps, driveways and parking lots!
Pembroke Hill connections are made all over the world! Alec Ebersole '14, a teacher in Spain, recently reached out to Kym Van Zanten, his former PHS Spanish teacher, to identify a pen pal for one of his students. Kym contacted the Wornall Campus Spanish teachers, and Esperanza Meli put first grader Dennis Gaid in touch with the Spanish student. Dennis received his first letter a few days ago!
