This photo remembered me of the two best tourguides in the world. They showed us everything we had to see and everything we had to know about Uganda and her culture. 🐘

And ofcourse we told them about the Netherlands too. It was funny to see how they couldn't be convinced that it had not snowed for some years in the Netherlands back then (which was actually true), but how they did believe that when you take a shit at a toilet in an airplane, it will actually fall into the air down on earth. πŸ˜„
Love this shot! 😍 Part of the amazing video, we made of our trip in Namibia.

"The best way to not feel hopeless is to get up and do something. Don't wait for good things to happen to you. If you go out and make some good things happen, you will fill the world with hope, you will fill yourself with hope." - Barack Obama
It's weird to be in this amazingly dry and sandy place and imagine that the wild sea is just next to it. 🏜

Deadvlei is a white clay pan located near the famous salt pan of Sossusvlei in the Namib-Naukluft Park. 'Vlei' means a lake or a marsh in a valley between dunes. Dead vlei has claimed to be surrounded by the highest sand dunes in the world. The highest reaching 300-400 meters. It's no fun to climb to the top, although running down is hilarious!
The clay pan was formed after rainfall, creating temporary pools where trees could grow. When the climate changed, drought hit the area, and sand dunes encroached on the pan which blocked the river from the sea. The tries died.
Visited Berlin two years ago and did this graffitti tour. We went to some awesome places and saw some fine details of the city you will never find on a map. A good example where wandering might be more effective than traveling to a certain destination! πŸ—Ί
See those two people at the top? Well.. that's how high some loose sand can take you! An unbelievable experience 😊
Wandering through the woods 🌲🌲
After an exhausting day in the Deadvlei we had this awesome view from the balcony at our campsite. At that moment, nothing felt better than a Savanna Cider and a Windhoek Lager at sundown while reading about the awesome adventures which were yet to come.
In 2014 I went to a project in Uganda called Pelido. It stands for 'Promotion of Enterprises and Livelihood Development Organization'. Here we volunteered in some different aspects of the project. We helped to clean up the water of the pool in the village that the people drink of every day, we helped to build stoves for the safety in the houses of families and we learned what the children in the district learn in school every day.
Every night we slept in tents, that we'd set up in the church that you see in the photo! In this place lay a lot of good memories for me!

Definately one of my best experiences in Namibia! We went to Dead Valley in Sossusvlei in the early morning, before the sun was up. We were actually first to enter the park! The views are amazing! Never seen so much sand before! After a long hike to the top, the best part is to just run down as fast as your feet can carry. 🌫
No matter how far we travel, the horizon is always way beyond us ❇
