Sciatica comes in 2 flavors. One is spinal and the other is in the deep gluteal region. The spinal version comes in 3 varieties. L3/4 goes down the front of the thigh, sometimes to the lower leg, L4/5, the most common, goes down the outside of the leg to the foot, and L5/S1 goes down the back of the leg to the foot. What can cause this? Usually lack of core stability, like weak abs, glutes, lats, hip flexors, etc. Just treating the symptoms will not fix the problem. In NKT we use our testing protocol to determine which muscles are under active in relationship to the spine. In this way the spine can be decompressed or adjusted followed by activation of the affected muscles.
