RCDS engineering students designed this stepping piano for Rye Nature Center.
Good morning!
Today Mr. Nelson had lunch with several Upper School students who are interested in becoming apprentices for the Maker Space set to open next fall. These students will be instrumental in helping peers and teachers alike in implementing the design process and using the resources in the space. Can’t wait to see what they come up with!

Today Scott Nelson welcomed all faculty and staff back to campus, marking the start of his 25th year as headmaster of Rye Country Day. Joining him here are the members of the faculty who were here to welcome him 25 years ago: Denise Francella, Donald Kyle, Barbara Shea, Ginny Black, Joe Rue, Mary Marcell, Johnny Flynn, Paul Wieman, Gil Castagna. (Missing from photo: Thom O’Grady) All combined, this group has given Rye Country Day more than 350 years of service.
A shipment of brand new Node desks arrived today!
Demolition of the Performing Arts Center is under way. This week, the construction crew is removing the front atrium and the interior of the theater to make room for an extended, two-story foyer and stadium seating to accommodate an audience of 500. The renovated PAC is set to open in early 2018. #advancingatraditionofexcellence
