On World Radio Day, here is image from our archives of the WQAN mobile studio parked out front of the Times Building in 1953. The Times has been associated with radio since 1922. 
Standing with the vehicle are Jack Guinan, program and sports director; Cecil Woodland, station manager; and Gino Ricciardelli, chief engineer. 
Today broadcasting from the Times Building is Rock 107, Alt 92.1, and ESPN Radio.

A Boy Scout is always prepared for the situation. That is what is going on this #ThrowbackThursday image from our #library - Explorer Scouts from Nicholson and Tripp Park showed younger scouts items needed for winter activities. In the image you can see a rifle, machete, bear traps and bow & arrows. The winter sport workshop took place at the South Abington Elementary School in December 1959.

In today's Weekend Times, staff librarian Brian Fulton writes about the record breaking performance by entertainer Liberace in Scranton in April 1973 at the Catholic Youth Center.  Liberace broke a long held attendance record in Scranton by 2,770 people with that concert.
