Unique Wines from an Ancient Tradition 🍇 🇱🇧 @chateaumusar - is Lebanon’s best known winery for good reason. Absolutely stunning wines from a stunning place!
#lebonesewine exhibiting at #SITTAutumn ☺️☺️☺️
The Hochar family’s philosophy of respect for the environment means that the 180 hectares of Musar vineyards are managed with minimal human interference and all the wines are made naturally.

Chateau Musar was the first producer in #Lebanon to achieve organic certification for its vineyards in 2006. Most are located in the Bekaa Valley, cradled between two mountain ranges running parallel to Lebanon’s Mediterranean coastline. Vines have been cultivated here for at least 6,000 years: the Phoenicians (seafaring ancestors of the modern Lebanese) were instrumental in bringing vines and wines from Byblos across to all of the areas around the Mediterranean.

All the grapes are #hand-harvested by local Bedouins between August and October.

In the #winery, ambient yeasts do the work of #fermentation. The bare minimum of sulphur is used and the Chateau Musar Red wines are neither fined nor filtered.

THE EGGMAN PRESENTS...
RBW is the brand of wines made in Italy by Robin Baum, a specialist #winemaker from England. All his wines are mainly matured in ceramic egg shaped vessels, hence the nickname “The Eggman.”
🥚 🥚 🥚
“I started this venture 3 years ago. My objective is to make wines that show the true flavor and identity of the grape. So much wine is made in a manner that destroys the natural grape flavours by the use of too much oak and too many chemicals during production.
Why ceramic and why egg shaped? My ceramic vessels are made from sandstone and gres and contain no metals (Terracotta has iron and aluminium) they are inert and porous so add no extra flavours like oak and allow natural oxidation during the period of maturation. The #eggshape allows better circulation of the wine in the vessel and natural temperature control. Wine is a living thing that contains a large number of different molecules that are interacting all the time, even in the bottle. Chemicals, particularly #sulfur kill these. Natural temperature control because the porosity means cool air enters the vessel from outside.
All my wines are made to at least #organic standards and a number are #biodynamic.
So welcome to the world of real #naturalwine .” find these wines at #SITTAutumn
Only one month left to go until #SITTAutumn in #london and #Manchester on the 9th & 11th September!
Find a world of specialist, handcrafted, fine wines to add to your wine list or shelves 🍷🍾
We’ve being doing this for 15 years now and are always impressed by the amount of incredible wine on display #loveourjobs #winejob
Masterclass Announcement! 🎙🎙 Old Vine Project 🍇🍇

Find out more about it below >>> and make sure you register to visit by following the link in our bio! 🌿🍇🍃
In all the winelands of the world, #oldvines get proudly mentioned on labels, in many languages.
Such is the value everywhere accorded to old vineyards and the wines they produce. But only in one
country, South Africa, is it possible for that claim to be certified by a regulatory authority. The Old
Vine Project (OVP) was formalised in 2016 with seed funding from the Rupert Foundation, along with
the effort to document South Africa’s old vines when #vineyard manager Rosa Kruger embarked on
the search for the forgotten and neglected. André Morgenthal joined Kruger in 2016 to develop this
heritage project into a viable, self-sustained model.
Members of the Old Vine Project (OVP) can apply for a Certified Heritage Vineyards seal for wines
made from vineyards 35 years and older, together with the planting date. In a time where consumers
are constantly seeking more knowledge and transparency about products, this guarantees authentic
wines made according to the OVP viticultural and winemaking guidelines.
Discover how gnarly old vines, that have survived the savages of time and harsh conditions, are
enhancing the South African wine scene by producing wines of quality and authenticity. The Certified
Heritage Seal is a first of its kind and is shaping a new wine category with substantial structure and
complexity. André will explain how the collective movement of the Old Vine Project is uniting and
advancing the South African wine scene, its people and the environment. A selection of rare Old Vine
wines will be tasted.
André Morgenthal has a longstanding career in the wine and tourism industry in South Africa. He
joined the Old Vine Project in 2016 as Project Manager, which follows on from his previous position
at Wines of South Africa as well as a career making wine in South Africa and a few harvests in Burgundy
