Say hello to Angeli, the Tunnel Boring Machine who just finished boring the first #tunnel at our @MetroLosAngeles joint venture Regional Connector project, a 1.9-mile underground transitway in downtown Los Angeles. The #TBM will be disassembled and taken to mine an adjacent tunnel this fall. The Regional Connector project will transform #LA transit with quicker commutes, reduced congestion, and more connected communities. #transportation #infrastructure #engineering #LosAngeles #BuildingWhatMatters #dtla
And here it goes! Former #KBridge being floated by & taken to be recycled. Yesterday, as part of our #KosciuszkoBridge Phase 1 project, the main span of the former K Bridge was lowered onto a barge to be taken away as part of an overall New York State Department of Transportation project to replace the bridge with two new cable-stayed bridges. Steel cables were used to lower the span approximately 125 feet – an estimated 20 feet per hour – onto the barge. #engineering #bridge #NYC
Here is the main span of the former Kosciuszko Bridge being lowered onto two barges to be taken away. The main span is 300 feet long, 89 feet wide, and 50 feet tall at its highest point; weighing in at 5 million pounds. The new #KBridge will include two new state-of-the-art, cable-stayed bridges. We built the first of these, which opened in April. #Bridge #Infrastructure #Engineering

On the first Friday of each month, our team at the Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital takes part in a dance party with the children and hospital staff across the street. What started off as a few individuals, has now turned into a day that both our team and the kids look forward to. We're proud to be #buildingwhatmatters and are thankful for the wonderful staff at @allchildrens who help to make this all possible. #hospital #buzzfeed #Tampa
We celebrated the opening of the Oakland Butterfly Garden at UCSF Benioff Children’s #Hospital. The revitalized garden is a beautiful, peaceful space for children and their families who are battling the unimaginable. We hope it brings peace and a place of respite for years to come! Thank you to @ucsf and all of our local partners to make this dream a reality! #garden #children #buildingwhatmatters
Today, we are behind-the-scenes at the future Transbay #Transit Center in San Francisco on our Instagram story. Check it out! #sf

Today we announced the financial close of our $1.26 billion design/build contract to convert the historic James A. Farley Post Office Building into a world-class transportation hub.

The 1.3 million-square-foot renovation of the Farley Building will include the new, 24,000-square-meter (255,000-square-foot) Moynihan Train Hall, a dramatic conversion of an original, century-old U.S. Postal Service mail sorting room. Featuring a new glass canopy roof, as well as elevator and escalator access to all platforms serving the Long Island Rail Road and Amtrak, the Train Hall will improve access for Pennsylvania (Penn) Station’s 650,000 estimated daily rail customers. “Skanska is grateful for the opportunity to deepen our history of partnership with the State of New York to modernize and expand our transportation infrastructure,” said Anders Danielsson, Skanska USA President and CEO. “We are also proud to partner with Related and Vornado, who have brought together their world-class development teams with our heavy civil and construction management expertise to meet this unique challenge.”
Today, we announced our plans to celebrate the history of Boston’s Seaport district by commemorating the shipwreck we found on-site at our #121Seaport development with the creation of a walking museum at #HarborWay.

Harbor Way will include an interactive walking museum that will highlight important historic milestones from past centuries such as our recent #SeaportShipwreck discovery.

Reflecting the spirit of the Innovation District, the Harbor Way museum will also be linked to an augmented reality (AR) exhibit which will sync to a phone application available for download. #oldmeetsnew #cre #boston #community #architecture

The #building was designed with input from patients, families, physicians and experts – and the finished product is beautiful! Congratulations to our team! #BuildingWhatMatters #HealthcareConstruction #Construction
In Houston, our team is hard at work on the Capitol Tower jobsite. Three tower #cranes cover the site, which allows our team to advance the schedule; columns are poured to create the three-story lobby entry; and #concrete formwork is in place to add levels to the existing #garage. #CRE #Houston #CapitolTower
