Toronto hotspots don’t always have lust-worthy food. But Michelin-Star @chefakiraback’s first Canadian namesake restaurant - @akirabacktoronto at @bishatoronto with @liveiconink - proves you can enjoy luxe surroundings AND an exhilarating meal.

First, the room. In true ICONINK fashion, the ebony and gold space is spellbinding. Arched ceiling painted in dreamy, cloud-like watercolour evokes a tranquil intimacy across the expansive room. Nestled in back, a cozy, jewel-like room allows guests to watch pros wield their sushi prowess. And why take the elevator when you can wind your way up the gold-leaf staircase? Every detail is exquisite and opulent, yet without a whiff of stuffiness.

The menu boasts Chef Akira’s acclaimed modern Japanese cuisine infused with authentic Korean flavours, including signature dishes (an addictive Tuna Mushroom collab Pizza with micro shiso and heavy dose of truffle oil), alongside items exclusive to the 6ix.

From crispy octopus to delicate Japanese omelet, there’s a wide array to choose from. Indulge in decadent fare featuring sea urchin, caviar, king crab, foie gras, wagyu, filet mignon and truffles Evocative flavours, alluring textures - get ready to be mesmerized. And while the Ribeye ($49) may sound pricey, the 12 oz charcoal grilled prime beef topped with kizami wasabi butter is big enough to share between two to three people.

Cocktails too, are on point (Sake Sour and Saktini, for instance), and be sure to get Sommelier Jen Hunter at your table. She hones in on exactly what excites your palate – even if you don’t know what does.

Take a peek at just some of the dishes over on @toronto_restaurants and then get yourself to Akira Back Toronto.
