Surfrider activists and volunteers keep our beaches and waterways clean and healthy. In June each year we celebrate the oceans, waves and beaches that we strive to protect.
Join us on International Surfing Day at Harbord Diggers this Thursday 20th June.
Special thanks to Bennett Surfboards for the exhibition #internationalsurfingday #longlivethesurf #longlivetherider #surfrider

Happy World Environment Day, and what better way to spend it than to be in training by the big man himself, Al Gore. Thank you @climatereality project for allowing me to be inspired. As Al said, “this means the world“. Quite literally! Adani you will lose this one! Equinor - dumb decision to drill in our bight coz we fight! #protectwhatyoulove #surfrider

Rather than be reactive, let’s be proactive! Join Surfrider and volunteer your spare time for good so we don’t have to spend our free time cleaning up the mess. www.surfrider.org.au #protectwhatyoulove 💙✌🏽🌊 repost from @smithy_surfboards SA Surfrider
Here is a picture of a Surfrider rally back in 1992 where Brad Farmer (founder of Surfrider Australia) is addressing the public outside the Victorian Parliament. The stage is the same, only the actors have changed. 27 years later and we’ve come full circle ⭕️ except now it’s not BP, now we’re fighting Equinor. We won’t give up until we win. Surfrider volunteers have been doing this for a very long time with the support of the surfing community and the ocean lovers of Australia. #surfrider #dontspoilwithoil #fightforthebight #drillingiskilling #bigoildontsurf
Great Job Kiama!! The South Coast community of Kiama comes out to #fightforthebight to oppose Norwegian mining giant @equinor 💪🏽 💙🌊🖤💛❤️ These are water people showing the world that they care for an ocean far away. #drillingiskilling #bigoildontsurf #protectwhatyoulove photos by AndyGray
This Saturday 11th May, Surfrider has you covered! We’re hosting two massive events and we want you to attend both. No laziness folks - your coastlines are at stake.
Start your morning off with a paddle out in Kiama Harbour at 09:30am. Let’s tell those polluters at Equinor what we think of their project to drill for oil in a Marine Park in the Great Australian Bight. NO❌WAY EQUINOR.
So for anyone who has never attended a rally before - try it. Your children’s future is at stake. Instead of using your voice for piffle, try using it for good; for the good of the Planet.
Next, the convoy travels up to Manly beach. Manly will be an ocean love-fest where we all hold Hands Across the Sand at 3pm to show Gladys and her Gang of Goofballs and Dunderheads that seismic testing along the NSW coast is NOT going to happen on our watch. Join our Sydney Surfrider family in telling the NSW State blunderment (government) that we don’t want seismic testing off our beaches. Out of sight, is NOT out of mind. Seismic testing would have to be one of the all time stupid decisions because it decimates marine life, and it is also a really bad look.
People, DO NOT SIT ON YOUR HANDS and leave this up to a handful of volunteers. This will affect YOU, so pull yourself away from your coffee and crosswords and find your inner environmental tantrum. Protect what you love!
Bring your Banners and your Nannas and be a part of both of these important actions. One last thing 👆🏽remember to write your letter opposing Equinor and send it to unitethebightelliston@gmail.com We have until the 15th of May to get our message to CEO Eldar Saetre and Board of Destruction that we oppose the drilling in the bight. Get writing folks. One paragraph will do it. #surfrider #fightforthebight #drillingiskilling #protectwhatyoulove #equinorextirpation
Next stop on the Surfrider Paddle Out! Get to Kiama Harbour this Saturday 11th May at 09:30am and say NO❌WAY EQUINOR Bring your Banners and your Nannas!! #surfrider #fightforthebight #drillingiskilling #surfrideraus #protectwhatyoulove photo: @warrenkeelan
