All is calm... this Sunday...
Christmas Tree ๐ŸŒฒ finally โœ”๏ธ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป #familytradition
My mini salted caramel and pecan chocolate birthday cake to celebrate turning 1 year bolder. I am happy and honesty, I donโ€™t give a damn about my age. Because if there is one thing I've learned in life, it is to never let this ever-increasing number define who I am and what I want to do. โ€œLife is good! I look forward to seeing you be bolderโ€, my son wrote on the wonderful birthday card he gave me.
Life is good, indeed! I will be bolder, I promise, my dreams are counting on me.
We had our first wonderful snowfall of the season yesterday. Flakes of snow, big as pieces of cotton spiraled down until covered the city in a so needed white blanket... they came with the sublime promise of White Christmas and I couldnโ€™t be any happier... And I made chili... because there was basically no other idea in my head of comfort food to cook on such snowy evening than slowly simmering kidney beans, ground beef and diced tomatoes, making the house smell like garlic, cumin, chili powder and cayenne pepper... There was also basically nothing else Iโ€™d rather eat on such cold, calm night than simple, pretty much perfect Red-Hot Chili... Winter! You are welcome!
While baking Christmas cookies, Christmas music is compulsory! Right? ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿ’๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ
To all of you, dear friends, who live in Toronto and area, come and say Hi tomorrow, December 6th at @montinnto from 2 -7 pm for a special holiday event; I will be there with my #HolidayCards ๐Ÿ’Œ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ’ซ Shop for foodie gifts, seasonal treats and crafts in a lovely historic setting. Cozy up to a roaring fire while sipping a hot mulled apple cider... There will be live music and a holiday exhibit "A Christmas Carol" by @daverheaumeartist
Doesn't it sound wonderful?
See you there!
Monday stolen moment โ€“ a creative kind of messy like my mind right now ๐Ÿ™Ž๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธโ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ But... there is beauty in messiness, right? Besides, according to a recent psychology study on creativity, being messy is all about โ€œturning away from socials conventions and trying out something newโ€. Interesting, donโ€™t you think?! ๐Ÿค”#embracemessy
getting into the holiday spirit with a visit to @terrebleu Christmas Pop Up; had such a delightful time strolling the sleeping lavender fields, drinking hot lavender cider beside the fire, smiling at the adorable wooly babydoll ๐Ÿ‘ with Christmas sweaters (see the story), and filling my shopping basket with lavender maple syrup and lavender macaroons ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŽ ๐ŸŽถ
Another shot of the baked apples I made this week and a recipe of my version which someone asked for ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ
INGREDIENTS:
4 large apples
5 teaspoons butter, softened
1/3 cup old fashioned oats
chopped walnuts
golden raisins
blueberries (optional)
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/4 cup maple syrup
DIRECTIONS:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Remove the core from each apple. Place cored apples into a baking dish.
In a bowl, mix together butter, oats, walnuts, raisins, cinnamon, vanilla and maple syrup. Fill each apple with the mixture, dividing it evenly between apples. Top with blueberries.
Pour a little warm water and orange juice to cover the bottom of the baking dish. Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until apples are tender.
Serve warm with ice cream, whipped cream or yogurt #bakedapples
I love planting paperwhite bulbs indoors during the holiday season and then watching them poke their green heads up out of the small stones. When those beautiful white flowers bloom just in time for Christmas, they make the most natural, earthy, simple and delicate holiday decoration. Wishing you a magical #December! #forcingbulbs #paperwhites
A humble, easy to make and delicious dessert - a taste of the past... It reminds me of my childhood, even though I wasnโ€™t too fond of baked apples as a kid when my grandma used to make them from time to time. But that I am grown up now, I appreciate the unpretentious simplicity of this old-fashioned dish. Cored and stuffed with a tasty mixture of golden raisins, rolled oats, chopped walnuts, cinnamon, vanilla, unsalted butter, maple syrup, and topped with blueberries, the apples are baked in a little bit of orange juice mixed with water until the entire house smells like one big warm snug hug ๐ŸŽ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ ๐Ÿค— (the creative part is that you can play with the filling ingredients)
