The best thing about March in Canada is that it's Maple Season. It is that sticky time of the year again when sugar shacks open their doors for all of us to see how maple sap is tapped from trees and then boiled down to the purest, golden, maple syrup. We can also enjoy simple sugar shack food from pancakes, sausages and baked beans cooked in a wood-fired oven to the most important one of all, the quintessential Canadian sweet – Maple Taffy. On snow.
You can see my new blog post with photos from @sugarshackto at Sugar Beach and find out how to make Maple Taffy. There is also a list of operating Sugar Shacks and Maple Syrup Festivals around the Great Toronto Area for you and your kids to visit 🍁🥞🧡

Can I just stay here... like forever?!

San Antonio! We are ready to delve into some of the most iconic destinations and historic sites of this wonderful city - a very pleasant surprise 🔍🌵🌴(see my story)
Hello from Texas!
Dallas welcomed us with heavy rain, but also strong coffee and fresh breakfast (freshly prepared ricotta, fresh eggs, homemade apple jam, house made butter on a freshly baked bread). The chef with a moustache a la Hercule Poirot served the food presenting every detail on the plates... Kudos CBD Provisions! @cbdprovisions The world is colorful – full of different eyes and delicious stories...
... because the only thing better than being outside on a rainy day, is being INSIDE on a rainy day... with a book, a cup of coffee and flowers... ( 📖 “Norman Parkinson A Very British Glamour” by Louise Baring)
Some days all you need is one good thought strong in your mind and a bunch of white tulips bathed in winter light...
“What the world needs now is love sweet love, Its the only thing that there's just to little of, What the world needs now is love sweet love, No, not just for some but for everyone...” 🎶🎼❤️ (Pie Pops with Nutella and Cream Cheese from @linda_lomelino beautiful book Lomelino’s Pies to spread a little more LOVE and gratitude today) #HappyValentinesDay
I made it through a challenging January!
I also made a conscious decision to stay away from social media for a while and as a result I had a valuable time to reflect on life's difficult situations and find my own word for 2018 (you can read more on the blog). I baked this delicious Chestnut Bundt Cake for Christmas using the inspiring Mimi Thorisson @mimithor recipe by only adding a little bit of dark chocolate chunks... because... well, I love chocolate
bread pudding with leftover Christmas panettone and dollops of orange marmalade and chocolate tucked in between... warm enough to help us beat the frigid cold weather outside 😬🧣
a morning for miracles... and remembering goodness... Merry Christmas!
