One more week until winter break!
To all the Owls beginning final exams and submitting final projects today – good luck! #FinalsWeek
Sleep is a priority when it comes to submitting final projects and taking exams. Secondary education: social studies and history major Katherine Finley EDU’19 says, “Get some sleep! That extra two hours of studying at 4am will do more harm than good.” #FinalsAdvice
Early childhood education and special education major Thomas Nolan EDU’21 says the best way to prepare for finals is with a coffee in hand and an organized room. “If you plan on studying in your room, take time to clean it to avoid distraction and stay organized. Take incremental breaks and take advantage of the quiet room at the tech.” #FinalsAdvice

Have a fantastic Friday! As you prepare for your exams and projects this weekend, make sure to eat, get in some sleep, and most importantly, relax.
The key to success is prioritizing one’s mental health. Early childhood and education major, Jordan Ditko EDU’19 notes that “[t]owards the end of the semester, it is easy to feel overwhelmed by the amount of approaching deadlines, but if you plan ahead and take it one step at a time, you’ll be fine! Always remember, your mental health is more important than the A on your transcript.” #FinalsAdvice
Secondary education and history major, Masaki Bolte EDU’19 gives students a variety of steps to prepare themselves for finals. “Step 1: Eat well, sleep well–a tried and true method for good test taking. Step 2: Communicate confusions with your professor–don’t be afraid to ask about office hours! Step 3: Find your preferred study spot. There are plenty of low-trafficked spots on campus you probably don’t go to unless you’ve had a class in that area. Try the 4th floor of Tuttleman; there are computers, printers, lounge chairs, and a great view with natural lighting.” #FinalsAdvice
The countdown to final exams is on! Throughout this week, we're featuring final exam advice from the Shimada Resource Center’s Peer Advisors, starting with early childhood education and special education major, Serena Edelman EDU’20. She tells her College of Education peers to plan in advance when it comes to finals season. “Projects and lesson plans can pile up quickly. Make yourself a schedule and start as soon as possible.” #FinalsAdvice
