To mark the end of the Academic year, we spent a fun day with the children of Elimu de Ark School jumping and screaming to celebrate the work we have done this year.
There was a bouncy castle, some hula hoops, high fives and cake to mark to the occasion!

In less than 36 hours, it will be #givingtuesday. This is a movement to create an international day of charitable giving at the beginning of the holiday season where you can help others through the gift of your time, donations, goods or your voice. What will you be doing on Tuesday?
Putting the shoes to test! 👞 Another one from the @toms one-to-one giving partnership with Cohesu.
Through our partnership with a local NGO, Cohesu (Community Health Support Program), we have been able to ensure that the students of the schools we work with receive new school shoes at least twice a year through the @toms giving One for One project. This program was introduced to combat soil transmitted diseases such as hookworms and jiggers (Tunga penetrans) amongst children in the Lake Victoria Region of Kenya. This also makes the morning walk to school a lot more comfortable and eases the financial burden on parents/guardians who may not have been able to afford a pair of school shoes for their children.

This year, the students of Soko Primary School in Nyakach received 147 new pairs of shoes as a result of this partnership; this included students starting from PP1 (age 3) all the way to Standard 8 (age 15). Another 80 pairs were received by the Students of Valley Academy.

Students in rural Kisumu’s Soko Primary School. During this year’s #givingtuesday we will be raising funds to improve the classrooms at this school and to keep their feeding program going.
SAVE THE DATE! Less than a week to go... RKF will be participating in @globalgiving’s #givingtuesday matching campaign where up to $150,000 will be up for matching.

This is the best time to make a donation! Help us reach more people by reposting and sharin our project details with friends and family members.
20th November is Universal Children’s Day! Here’s celebrating their fun spirit and beautiful smiles. And hoping they continue to have access to good quality education as is their right. 📚🤓 #RKF #UniversalChildrensDay #universalchildrensday2018 #Change #Education
RKF Co-founder @mo_hit running one of the workshops while implementing the mobile education program.
To help students with revision and learning beyond the classroom, we partnered with Eneza Education, a mobile-education SMS/Text Message Service, to give students access to their curriculum content in a more engaging way.

To achieve this, we bought vouchers for 160 Standard 8 students across two schools: Soko Primary School in Nyakach and St. Vitalis Nang'a Primary School in Dunga, who were preparing for their KCPE (Kenya Certificate for Primary Education) National Exams. These vouchers give the students free, unlimited access to the Shupavu Platform which offers: • Kenyan curriculum lessons & assessments in all subjects
• Chat with a live teacher (Ask as many questions to a teacher)
• Revision papers
Other than these, students also have access to Stories, an Encyclopaedia, an interactive educational game and a calculator through the SMS platform. Through it’s interactive approach it encourages students to learn from trying and competing with other students on the platform across the entire country.

It is our hope that this pilot program will help the students improve their performance in their upcoming exams and that we can make more vouchers available to even more students across all the schools we work with in the 2019 academic year.
