Secretary Elaine L. Chao was joined by Haben Girma and other #usdot officials yesterday to commemorate #nationaldisabilityemploymentawarenessmonth . The Department is committed to an all-inclusive workforce, and we are grateful for the many contributions those with disabilities make to our workforce.
Secretary Elaine L. Chao was in Chicago and Los Angeles yesterday to announce two major #infrastructure grants. These grants will help to relieve rail and vehicle congestion for two major transportation bottlenecks in their respective regions.
In the wake of a natural disaster like #HurricaneFlorence, the Federal Highway Administration’s Emergency Relief Program helps restore access to essential roads and bridges. #TransportationTuesday
Last week, Secretary Elaine L. Chao announced several grants and infrastructure improvements across Kentucky. 
In Paducah, she announced the opening of a new Gateway Maritime Office, and additional grants for the port of Paducah. 
In Lexington, Secretary Chao announced a new #transit investment for all-electric buses. The Secretary also announced a $67.445 million INFRA grant for I-71 and I-75 in northern Kentucky, as well as a $7.1 million Airport Improvement Program grant for @cvgairport . 
This combined funding is an investment in the future of the infrastructure across this entire region.
Today Secretary Elaine L. Chao announced a $45 million INFRA grant that will be used to replace the Belle Chasse Bridge and Tunnel in Belle Chasse, LA. INFRA grant projects such as this provide dedicated, discretionary funding for projects that address critical issues facing our nation’s highways and bridges. #infrastructure

Secretary Elaine L. Chao @dfwairport with @johncornyn , @repkaygranger , local officials, and DFW airport officials to announce a $180 million airport improvement grant for two major taxiway complexes. These improvements are expected to improve safety and reduce delays by 7 percent over the next 20 years, saving more than $270 million.

The U.S. Department of Transportation is seeking comment on amending its regulations on transportation of service animals. DOT has heard from the transportation industry, as well as individuals with disabilities, that the current regulation could be improved. 
The Department recognizes the integral role that service animals play in the lives of many individuals with disabilities and wants to ensure that individuals with disabilities can continue using their service animals while also helping to ensure that the fraudulent use of other animals not qualified as service animals is deterred and animals that are not trained to behave properly in the public are not accepted for transport as service animals. Comments on the ANPRM must be received within 45 days of the date the notice is published. The ANPRM can be found at regulations.gov in docket DOT-OST-2018-0068.
