A shout out to all rabbits past and present 🐰 Meet two of this year’s warren:
Devin Horsman is a multidisciplinary artist from Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is the Chief Technical Officer for Arcturus, an immersive studio with offices in Halifax and Los Angeles. Devin’s work centers around metaphor for social processes through applications of mathematics and computer science. He is fascinated with the emergence of complex systems through the unorthodox combination of simple, ordered parts.
Jolee (Jo) Smith is an interdisciplinary artist and art history student living in K'jipuktuk (Halifax, Nova Scotia). They hold a BFA Interdisciplinary (specializing in jewellery design/metalsmithing and sculpture), and a BA in Art History from NSCAD University. In September 2018, they will move to Montréal to begin a Masters of Art History at Concordia University, focusing on modern and contemporary art, especially as this relates to queer, aesthetic, and critical theory.
Together, Jo and Devin approach sculptural through process; relying on local and embodied knowledge in the form of existent technical skills, awareness of our environment, and prior experiences working together.

Meet another one of our amazing residency artists! Plus festival posters have hit the streets of Halifax - get your early bird ticket while you still can! $35, August 25/26, Red Clay Farm. Link in bio. 🤙

Hennah Verhoeven is queer textile and tattoo artist. Born a scrappy prairie kid yet drawn to coastlines, she now lives in Halifax and is completing her final year at NSCAD for textiles and fashion. Constantly swept up in a whirlwind she is inspired by seasons and feelings, places and bodies, and lines and colours. With a love for mending and repuposing her work is driven by sustainability and giving new life to second hand objects and materials. Her work is process and narrative based, filling notebooks with sketches, poems, samples and field notes, the final piece is only ever a stepping stone in the search for more knowledge, experience and ideas.
